This newscast was in direct competition with Ted Baxter over on WJM. Despite a highly professional newscast, they never caught Baxter in the ratings. Baxter dominated the MSP market throughout the 70s.
I love this! My dad and I watched Dave Moore all the time.
I remember WCCO back then!!!!!! Thank you for posting this.
If they only knew what we know now.
This followed an unknown program (unknown because both the STAR's and TRIBUNE's TV listings from this date have a TBA-like notice at the 9:30 and 9:45 slots) and was followed by a local movie showing of YANKEE PASHA, a 1954 vehicle for Jeff Chandler.
On this date 20 years later, my son was born.
Skip Loescher will later be on CNN from its birth by 1980
The scores scroll at 41:00 or so reminds me of the old weather scroll on the Today show when the local NBC affiliate didn't insert their own forecast.
LBJ could have been one of the greatest Presidents. A man of enormous vision and empathy. Vietnam sank much of what he wanted to achieve. Very sad because he really could have been a transformational leaders
@tcfthecurtisfiles Why don’t you read some books about him as I have. You might come up with a more imaginative response
@tcfthecurtisfiles Well you have just proven the depths of your knowledge. Thanks for playing I guess. Again, a few books wouldn’t hurt you
Yes, its a shame he didn't DIE before he became president. However he was to busy with his Texas Oil Buddies planning the JFK Assassination. To bad we cant ask the 58,000 troops that he sent to be killed. Yes was a great one, probably the greatest Dickhead on earth.
@@Portugal2025 Reading books is knowledge?? LOL........... LBJ killed JFK.........what more TRUTH do you need?? Lying Lyndon as he was known......Guy was a POS in my BOOK. Read all the books you want.
@Portugal2025 My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.”
Could they have more guys at a smaller desk?
At 3:10 we hear there is a lull in the war but Westmoreland expects a new offensive by the enemy to begin around January 30. I thought Tet was a big surprise. Hmm.
John M It wasn’t that much of surprise, at the start of January 1968 as soon as North Vietnamese Foreign Minister Trinh announced that a halt of bombing on North Vietnam would (rather than could - which Hanoi always previously said) lead to negotiations everybody expected an offensive from the enemy to try to provide them with the best possible negotiating position.
This was coupled with numerous captured enemy documents which alluded to an upcoming offensive.
The surprise was the depth and intensity of it.
Not even 7 at the time of this newscast,I'm feeling very old now#
Kirk Morgan I wasn't born for another 2 years and I feel the same as you.
I was negative 19. I wish I was 19 during this time in history though.
@@jimjones5394 12 military personnel annihilated in one go. Truck drivers buying it 5 ways to Sunday. It was obviously all unicorn farts back then.
@@jonglewongle3438compared to today it was definitely unicorn farts and i still agree with my original statement. look at the rates of millenials and gen z vs boomers and it's pretty obvious our lives suck.
President Johnson telling Congressman Wilbur Mills off during his State of the Union address there.
Jeez. Can 4 guys sit any closer?
I watch the scene tonight when i was a baby 0:47
39:30 The Hayes-Jones match race at the Pro Bowl never happened. Homer Jones got a $5,000 payment from the Giants. It exchange for dropping out of the race.
His great society
@38:25 As someone who grew up near Schenectady, it was known as Linton H.S. at the time. Read more about the “ghost game”: m.timesunion.com/tuplus-local/article/Marv-Cermak-Empty-stadium-echoes-earlier-gym-6257603.php
I'm glad to hear LBJ WARNED us about Inflation. What about the warnings he was getting from advisors that the war was unwinnable. No he didn't listen, money talks much louder than people who know what their talking about. Why should it bother LBJ that he sent so many Men and Women to their death, they weren't his kids. Thank you Vietnam Troops, you are the real heroes.
The automatic pro criminal seemingly endless appeals process did not exist back then for death penalty convictions????????
They got some sync problems those quads don't like
Dave Moore, I heard he did these shitfaced.
You heard wrong but seem to be cool with spreading scurrilous gossip.
Ah, yes. Back in the days when MEN -- yes, REAL MEN -- delivered the news!
Yeah, it took "real" men to read UPI and AP teletypes. Too funny. ;-)
GIVE IT UP BIGOT BOY
The failure of the "Great Society" nuff said!
Did not work.
Adequate funding proved impossible due to Vietnam war.
Bullshit!
William DuFour Good argument. That’s me convinced, I retract my previous comment.
Get your head outta your ass! It didn't do diddly squat as big government programs never do TheJMassis666. But keep on drinking that kool-aid!
