Yes listening is always the first step to disobeying Divine direction. I don’t think Luther, Calvin and Cranmer engaged in listening to anything other than God’s word!

Nigeria's backing away from GAFCON? Am I the only person who is surprised to hear that?
I think you're misunderstanding what he said. When the ACNA was first formed many of the founding jurisdictions were under episcopal supervision from Nigeria and other provinces. The "stepping back" is referring to these provinces allowing the ACNA dioceses to become self-governing members of the North American province, no longer under the authority of African or South American bishops.

@@marmeemarch7080 Jesus was a "he" as far as we know. Gender is merely a convention of language and context There are empirical differences of the sexes...gametes, chromosomes, but that's not true of gender.
Persian, as a gender-neutral language, doesn’t inherently assign gender to nouns. In Zoroastrianism, for instance, Ahura Mazda is considered genderless. Similarly, in Islam, Allah is beyond gender.
In general, English does not have much of a gender system. We divide things into male people, female people, and everything else.
So, if a Bishop can generate the numbers but has questionable theology and or doctrine; well that's ok. REALLY???
Not what he said. He was talking about church planters. That's where the rest of the Body of Christ steps in, to correct, form, and use *all* the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the sanctification of *all* the members. But granted, a bishop shouldn't be the one with problematic theology. Well, a lot of those guys have significant gaps in their biblical and theological education and pastoral experience and training.
@@marmeemarch7080 This is true marmee. I know kids in undergraduate religion classes with a better grasp of christianity (and atheists for that matter) than alot of these folks.
They might say to these evangelizers: “Your behavior makes me feel like you don’t trust me. It makes me really uncomfortable.” The smart one's aren't going to be obedient to others who are controlling.
And, controlling the sex lives of others is a great way to fill the pews. Autocracies know this as a way to assert power.
