Awesome to still see 7.3 content coming out. Just bought a 2003 7.3 dually last month with 274k miles on it. Drove it 4 hrs home after buying it and so far it’s been great. Hoping it to get another 200k miles out of it with regular maintenance and up keep.

I Hear that Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding sound in my Nightmares. Classic 7.3 sounds ❤ . It Reminds me of When my mom use to Beat my Daddy Back in 99 at the Talladega Race track in Alabama Because Daddy was Deployed to much in the Military so my mum would crank on that 7.3 for hours and hours and hours to get us to the race track in the 7.3 Always 🤗🤗🤗🤗 good job keeping it Alive 💪

The old trucks need extra maintenance . that's what happens when trucks are 20 plus years old

I'd like to see what it ends up being on the cold start issues, my truck does the exact same thing with brand new injectors, glow plugs and glow plug relay

Bro casually driving through the prettiest landscape talking about something he is passionate about. Enough to make a grown man cry. Seriously though, I kinda want the single cab. Been looking for a good 7.3 and dont need 4wd in the south

My dad has a 2002 and a e99 7.3 both zf6’s the 99 also has the same problem your having starting cold and we were told it could be the lpop an injector or glow plugs it’s got 250k on it. The 2002 has 119k on it and starts straight up no problem plugged in or not my usually still plugs it in bc it’s better not wearing your stuff out just trying to prove a point lol.

Are they reliable? Yes. Will they have problems? Yes. Most of the problems won’t leave you stranded or just happen but can be fixed with maintenance or preventative. The trucks are a minimum 21 years old now and that shows in the truck and the o rings. If you go newer you pay a payment, if you go older you pay for repairs. The biggest difference between the 7.3 and 6.7 (deleted for me) is the ability to do most of the work in your driveway on the 7.3. The power is night and day and definitely shows during towing heavy or starting cold. I love them both in their own ways. I disagree with the 6.0 comment, I’ve had better luck with my 6.0’s than my 7.3s and the truck itself feels a lot more modern, atleast the 05-07’s. The early 6.0’s and 6.4’s are junk.

Well not just that it has problems (which I'm pretty sure it does) but as well as the 7.3's dont really like the cood maybe the. Glow plugs?

Bought an 01” 7.3l with 312k back in June lariat heated seats crew cab for $7500 off an older gentleman that had owned it since 04’ and used it to tow a construction trailer all over Idaho Washington and Montana. Glove box had so many service records in it the glove box wouldn’t close when I got it. About 7k into it now and left me stranded once due to a tired and brittle radiator cracking. Absolutely love it and wanting to keep it for a long while.

Why did you say to avoid the Duramax and Cummins? Especially why would you avoid the Cummins?

It’s what no one talks about. Picked my 99 7.3 up for $200. Did most of the work myself but rebuilding a 4x4 front end on these things is over 1k alone. $30000 later and I finally have a truck that is putting in the work I need a truck to do. Still, that kind of money gets you a real nice used Tundra around here or even a used ten year old f350 with more load capabilities.

Yeah. The only reason I see to own a 7.3 at this point is because you want one

I actually have an edge tuner on mine and I run it on stock because the edge shifts like garbage, I use it as a scanner and monitor

Yeah I’ve heard that before. This bully dog might be the reason for my horrible shifts on this truck

I’ll hold onto my 7.3 with a death grip for multiple reasons
    No emissions
    Cheaper than modern diesels
Rebuilding it still cheaper than a new truck
    Can run on black diesel

Needs work partner. I've got a 99 with 125xxx on the clock. Over the last 3 or 4 years I dumped about 14 grand into it. List too long to list here. She's a daily driver for me every other month (swap out with my 2017 Ram 1 ton). She's also the go to truck for trips: camper shell and queen size RV bed in back. Pulled the back seat out so loads of storage in that area now. Love the ol' girl. All on my channel if interested.

Hows finding parts for this years trucks?

    • @eli709
      @eli709 Před 4 měsíci +1

Mechanical parts are easy. Things like the injector driver module, and other electrical modules are getting really hard to find.
