This music is amazing. It just exudes adventure, romanticism, and drama. A hint of the mysterious too in the very beginning and end along with a nod to the old Star Trek series music in the opening.

  • @thelastholdout

This movie, made for a fraction of the cost of its predecessor, managed to look, sound, and feel more epic, grand, and intimate than The Motion Picture. The Wrath of Khan is still the absolute best of the series, followed closely by The Voyage Home, and then the new Star Trek.
The soundtrack plays a huge role in this.

@dude75able While I agree TNG expanded the franchise, you have to remember that ST was a dieing franchise with the flop of The Motion Picture. If it wasn't for the success of ST2 TWOK, there wouldn't have been anything further. This film was without a doubt the rebirth of Star Trek as we know it.

@Stopmotionist Heh, yeah, that too. But you can credit STI as being responsible for the great uniforms in STII and beyond, and for STII's greatness in and of itself. They really overhauled it for STII as a result of STI's blandness. Those boring uniforms paved the way for those sharp, squared away, genuine military looking uniforms in STII. If STI had been just O.K., then things may have turned out poorly in the long run, if that makes sense.
