John Snow won overseas series for England in the West Indies in 1968 and Australia 1970/71 and leading wicket taker in both series. Treated shabbily by the cricket authorities in England. An absolutely brilliant fast bowler for England.

"England's finest ever fast bowler"? There are arguments against this. Jimmy has had a marvellous test career largely because, in recent years, he has done little else other than play for England. Statham bowled his heart out for England AND Lancashire. Ditto Trueman for England AND Yorkshire. Both these bowlers regularly took over 100 wickets in a season and Trueman's wickets per test record is significantly better than Jimmy's.
Jimmy has benfitted probably more than anyone from central contracts and a very carefully managed workload. None of this is a criticism of Jimmy more an observation about the changing nature of first class cricket in this country and the impossibility of making meaningful comparisons.
