  • A quick trip setting some basic crab pots / traps (dillies) proves to be super productive. The size and quality of the muddies was absolutely impressive. Checking crab pots never grows old! Thanks for watching. #returnoutdoors #giantmudcrab

    Yet another great day out on the water with a clean and simple (for us) great haul too. I dunno if I'm glad or sad that you didn't crack open a claw and finish up with a camera zooming in on it like a mouth opening up and chomping down on it. lol

      Thanks heaps for your comment. I thought it might have been a little rough, eating the claw in front of you 😄 Cheers, Brad 👍

    9:16 biggest crab in history. That looks like you’d get almost 1kg of meat from that haul. Sensational.

    Love mud crabs ….some nice kind ol fella from Maaroom (over the road from Fraser Island) rocked up whilst I was fishing and asked if I caught anything …I replied no (it was a dead quiet day) he plopped up two massive mud crabs all nicely tied up etc ….and I asked are those for me…..he nodded winked and drove off 😂 some bloody amazing people out there I tell you..tonight I’ll be feasting on them ….will have to dabble in crabbing at some stage…been going mainly for bread n butter species (fairly new to fishing)

    Another great video Brad the video and editing work are spot on you have a knack for that I think. I removed the carapace and the innards before I cook the crabs, is there any reason why you cook them whole? It must a North Queensland tradition as down south most people remove the carapace . And any tips on cooking time ? I look forward to your next video , cheers

    • @returnoutdoors2210
      @returnoutdoors2210  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Sometimes I remove the carapace before cooking. Some cultures prefer to leave it on to retain the fats and flavours. When I remove the carapace I reduce the cooking time by a few minutes. As far as the actual cooking time - a quick wash of the boat and run the outboard motor and they're done! 😄 Cheers, Brad.👍

    In Mississippi when we go crabbing on the open water, the Game and Fish Commission says we must wear a life vest by law. However, there is no law in place that states we have to wear shoes , but when we are in the same boat as live crabs but we do!! Nobody has to pass a law for that! LOL If you Aussies are going to drop a crab in the boat, sure to count your toes when you get home!! LOL

    • @gregeberhardt1711

      Shoes make it harder to pin them down while you tie them…..and shoes won’t help if the latch on unless they are steel cap safety boots lol
