    I came to conclusion that these classic vibe squier are filling the role of old pawn shop offsets from back in the day. They are:
    -affordable and available (sonic youth used offsets because they were cheap and a lot of pawn shop had them because they weren't as popular as strats teles and les paul's),
    -they are not always perfect so you mod them yourself, (just like sonic youth and cobain guitars, and many others ),
    -spec wise they are a vintage instruments,
    -they sound great and are really playable.
    Squire became kind of its own brand (still based on fenders projects) that fullfill different needs of players. It just proves that squier are equaly good as fenders, just with different function as a range of instruments.

    The narrow-tall frets are ok if your playing style has a light touch. If you have an iron grip, then the action feels high even when it's actually low to the frets. I have a newer Jag with those frets and I always have to remember to lighten my grip. I may get them filed down someday.

    I hope these Classic Vibe's are made with the same quality as the Classic Vibe Tele's and Strat's. They were a huge success on the back of their quality for the price. I hope that the standard of these are the same and they're not just cashing in on the reputation of the Classic Vibe line

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před 5 lety

      The quality is fine apart from some sharp frets but that could be down to rushing out the first batch. The major flaw for me is the tall narrow frets which I believe they now use on most of the range, they are really uncomfortable to play enough so I probably won't bother with any of the other models.

    I've owned several Japanese Reissue Mustangs and also the Squier Vintage Modified. In comparison the Squier looked pretty much like the real thing, but somehow it sounded and felt differently. The pickups were much hotter and the bridge-saddles were a nightmare. The body was thicker too, it felt a bit clunky compared to the Japanese models. I hope the Classic Vibe is closer to the original.

    Rob, thinking of buying another one of these, dunno why I sold it, but have you noticed that the recent pics of them on sweetwater look more of a daphne blue? It looks great, but wasn't sure if it was just an FSR for the American Market?

    Hey man I am totally a newbie when it comes to instruments at all. I have no knowledge of what the pieces are, what models guitars have. But I was thinking of saving up and buying a electric guitar since I have dreamed of having one. I looked at some and wondered if you can tell me which is best from my choices?
    1. Classic vibe '60s mustang

    Are you going to review the Classic Vibe Jaguar too? Since it already has the fixed bridge and the bone nut I'm thinking of buying one. My only concern are the frets, since I never played a guitar with narrow tall frets and there are no stores selling that guitar where I live.

I could still buy a used VM but there aren't many for sale in Italy and they sell for like 50€ less than new.
