    I love you Brian!
    1. Embrace the masculine essence in you, be driven by it.
    2. Have a mission, purpose.
    3. Quit making excuses and blaming for not pursuing your greater endeavors.

Thank you for this brief but comprehensive review! This book is for men, indeed, and also for the people who love them! David Deida knows women more than they know themselves. This and the other Deida books changed my life, as a woman, helping me realize that women thrive and are free to express creativity, emotions and sexuality with an open heart when loved by a fully present, wise, kind, masculine man of uncompromising love and integrity!

If you have time, i 've got one-two questions: Who supported you in this kind of change(psychollogically and financially)?
I mean did you have enough support and money to make the transition(buy books, take care of your family etc)?
I ask because i'm in deep thoughts these days about my mission and where i'm heading. And i would like to provide more and serve more to people and my family, but it needs money to aqcuire some needed skills and time(=drop college, its kind of boring there in general, classic education style). Any thoughts?? :)

***** In terms of characters that fit David Deida's exact description of the "superior man", I don't know either. However, I'd like to share some characters that exemplify genuine masculinity for me:
Clayton Moore as "The Lone Ranger"
Charles Ingalls from "Little House on the Prairie"
      John Walton from "The Waltons"
      The Cartwright Family from "Bonanza"
      Horatio Caine from "CSI: Miami"
      Don Draper from "Mad Men"
      Maximus from "Gladiator"
      William Wallace from "Braveheart"
Rhett Butler from "Gone with the Wind"
      Obi-Wan Kenobi from "Star Wars"
Capt. John Miller from "Saving Private Ryan"
      Katsumoto from "The Last Samurai"
      James Bond

It is interesting that he uses "conservative" as a bad word. It is not. Conservative is just one who tends to believe that ways that worked in the past will continue to work. A conservative does not change just for the sake of change.

nobody is perfect - you can say that again. I don't think this book is for you, or philosophy at this point. You are contracted into yourself. SORT IT OUT and stop making excuses.

  • @johnmartin3975
    @johnmartin3975 Před 10 lety

This sounds nice,,,but it also sounds like God got copied, and didn't get all the credit. You can go through all of these motions crucifiction, resurrection, and you can take full responsibility for the great changes you made in yourself. Just having the courage to step through and peel away the layers of onion boy, (Shrek) is not enough, and you will still be empty in the end. Got there yet Brian? You will. The only way anyone will be reborn, is if God is at the center of it. You will not be able to recharge for very long without him. He made sure of that when he made you and designed you. The hole you feel is God Shaped, not let's see how I can change myself IF I am really courageous... I don't know, because I haven't read this book, but I suspect that we are being politically correct, or riding on populism, and that avoiding God in the formula, and it's all part of selling books. Don't mention the creator and author of all of us, because then you just might be a religious Jesus freak, or worse a real Christian...I could be wrong about this assumption, because maybe God is in this book somewhere, but I believe that if he isn't at the center of all these efforts you are undertaking, you will fail. In fact, I believe that these are all great ideas to reform one's behaviors, and search for God's real purpose for your life. But it is God's purpose, he owns you, and you will have to answer to him at the end of all this work, physical death. Here's to hoping that you understand this, and that you know that you cannot change anything unless you have the savior at the center.
