As for the drawers with false fronts. use the false fronts to store your 4 favorite cookbooks in. They'll always be right to hand, and it should look a bit homey. You might want to rethink replacing the wire shelving in the pantry with the solid wood. As I was watching it occurred to me that if that’s solid, you won’t be able to see through it like you can now and you’re ALWAYS going to have to grab a ladder when you want to look up there for something. This way you can see through the shelves into your glass jars and go right to it instead of dragging your ladder along the length to find what you need…

Hi Becky!! So...the best thing I ever did with my tupperware/snap containers is I store each one with the lid ON. Solves the following:
    1. They stay together.
    2. The inside of the containers remain dust-free.
    3. No guessing on what lids fit.
    4. They stack and stay neat!

seems to me they would take up a lot more space that way? I just bought a bunch of lock & lock that are all the same size. (seriously, like 40 of the same container) They stack perfectly, all the lids fit all the containers, they happen to fit perfectly in my work lunch bag, and since they are rectangular (as opposed to round) they fit better in the fridge!

On the outside, where you can see them, of what you've put inside. Often the first try at arranging things doesn't quite work, so this was a way for me to move things about a bit until it felt like everything was in the right place. Plus, when my kids were younger, I kept the labels up for a while (maybe a month?) so they could figure out where everything was in our new kitchen 😃

Hello. I would like to give a couple of suggestions:
    - You could use some of the moving boxes' cardboard to lie on top of the wire shelf. It would protect them from getting dirty and it would give you a more stable base to place items on top of. Since you are planing on renovating the kitchen this could be a temporary option bu if you would like to have a more durable solution you could try wood or other materials.
    - You could put some cooking book in those display areas of the drawers. I don't know if they would fit but it's an option.
Hope any of these ideas would be of help.

Microwave area: Cut that whole tumor away and make it what you want. I mean we all know Josh can definitely make that area better with no sweat.
Pantry: Maybe mount a pull down shade (something nice not basic) for shelving where vinegar is
Can the boxes slide on a blanket where they're going so you don't have to carry?

Becky, re: Glass drawer front compartments: I’ve seen people fill those with various shapes and colors of pasta and/or beans for decorative purposes. If you didn’t want to do that, you can use self stick frosted vinyl covering for the inside of the glass. And then you suggested it yourself. I think they would be nice spaces for lids or maybe, if they fit width-wise, the smaller muffin tins, so you can reach the bigger ones more easily as well. Or, if it's possible, have the separator taken out so you get a bigger drawer altogether.
In any case, moving, especially kitchen items, can be super stressfull. I think you're doing a great job. Don't let it get you down if things feel overwhelming. Your ideas make so much sense and ultimately, it'll be a lovely kitchen! 💕

A thought on kitchen-child safety while you're getting organized and settling into a new layout...
Dishwasher packets can apparently look like candy to some people. Instead of under the sink, may want to put those & other potentially hazardous cleaning supplies up high, and possibly keep the extras behind a locked door somewhere else (if only because of available space up high may be limited). Some kids can figure out the anti-child cabinet locks really fast. I just made sure that anything in the bottom cabinets of my kitchen were things that couldn't cause more than bumps or bruises, and let any resulting chaos happen. Kids can also start climbing surprisingly fast (or at least quite competently with next to no warning), so drawers and countertops aren't far behind in the potential hazard zone. Our youngest (2 yrs 3 months) figured out he could reach the knife block over 6 weeks ago, so that had to find a new home.
And on the topic of small children, may want to think about where you're going to put any baby/child eatingware.
Another thought on the pantry top shelf- I agree a solid surface is better than a rack for storage, but being able to see your goods is important- so how about plexiglass? Is that strong enough to serve as shelf material? Maybe frame some in wood for strength or add extra supports? I've never tried it!
Have fun childproofing Absolutely Everything as you get the house set up! : D
(Wish us luck with our house sale & moving extravaganza!)

Frost the glass, move the wood divider all the way forward to protect the glass and have more room in the drawer.

I don't think those dividers move. During the video, I was thinking that movable dividers would be a much better design.

Becky, Minimalist Mom's hack to store glaslock with the 'lids on' has really helped me with organizing and keeping inventory down. My husband really appreciates it, too when he preps the dog food and easily reaches into the cabinet to pull the 7-8 containers - with lids he needs. I love walking through this journey with you. The house is looking great!!

For the false drawer fronts: Since a baby is coming, maybe paint the glass with chalkboard paint for baby to doodle on with chalk in the future, and to store sippy cups, play food toys, baby spoons and other baby items that you'll find you will enjoy baby being able to get to when they begin to toddle.

I am in my second trimester and finally feeling more like myself. The exhaustion and nausea from the first trimester is finally gone. I am finally getting caught up on cleaning around the house, this made me excited to go through my pantry and reorganize!

Becky, I look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing this crazy part of your life with us. My husband and I just bought and almost restored a cabin/house in the woods on a creek bank. It’s a dream come true for us and it’s so fun to see your journey! Blessings!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but today is the first anniversary of massive flash floods in our little community in W NC. The devastation was unbelievable. Please be aware if that could possibly be an issue for you. We lost 6 members of our community, and an untold number of animals.
