We had a few requests for this song on my previous Depeche Mode tutorial, so here it is! I saw the band live at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona last month and they were incredible. Be sure to check out the other Depeche Mode song tutorials on my youtube channel!
The song features a great riff, which can be played as single notes (like the original) or with chords and single notes to play a solo acoustic arrangement, which I cover in the video. The barre chords in the verse and chorus make this at an early intermediate level, so keep that in mind while learning this song!

Hi Andy! Awsome lesson! I could be mistaken, but I think the very last note of the riff is really the 6 strng on the third space repeated twice...(not ending in the 5th space) 3-2 as you show, and 3-3 on the 6th

Have you ever tried it with the capo on the 1st fret?
Instead of ‘Am - C’ you’d play ‘Bm - D’ during the verses.
The chorus would go:
‘Em - G - Bm - D’
and then
‘Em - G - Bm - Bb’

I think I need a new guitar. I did everything exactly the same on that picky intro line but it just sounds wrong!
probably just needs some tuning! you can hand tune it using various methods you can find online or get an electronic tuner which is more convenient and easier imo
