Oh wow! This is so helpful, thanks. I might start using Notion again. My ADHD brain was hyperfixated on it for months and then I suddenly stopped using it. I felt like I had made my pages and databases just waaaaay too complicated, which meant that I got overwhelmed with it.
I’ve been there too, making things too complicated. Totally get that! So glad what I shared made you feel like you could make your process more manageable! If you have any questions or what me to share anything else in a future video, definitely let me know!
@@AuthorBrittanyWang thanks! I sat last night (uk time here) until about 3am and started building it again according to your set up. I signed up for your newsletter and got access to all your lovely templates which made it easier to build the character and location templates. However, what do you put in the culture, magic and others templates please?
So exciting that you got started!! For the other types of templates, I believe I show some snippets of each of them throughout this video, but it's really whatever you want to put in there that would be most pertinent to your story. If you'd like some specific ideas though: For Cultures, if you go to my Worldbuilding Templates (that you can get through my Newsletter Members page too) and grab the Google Docs version, I have a list on page 5 for "Population" (aka: Cultures). For Magic, I'd probably focus on short descriptions on how the magic works, who / what types of people can do to the magic, and what limits it has (magic should always have limits!). For "Other" (my Items, Species, Terms sections) I simply put a description for each and then bullet points of any other details I want to include. Hope this helps!
@@AuthorBrittanyWang thanks for those suggestions. I'm going to put this project on hold until the end of November so I can concentrate on NaNoWriMo for now. I think I'll go through and fill in the series bible once the book is done.

Love the tagging feature and that it links to Google Docs! Plus its free. Will def be organising my WIPs this weekend.

Thank you for this! I didn't actually know you could make multiple workspaces on notion, I have all my stories on one notion board, so that's something to refigure out. I've actually been using trello the most for my stories because I find it the easiest to work with. What with color coordination and everything, (did you hear they made like twenty new colors??) Which I got from your helpful vidoes! So thank you for all these resources. Let's see if I can cook up some magic...
So happy to hear I inspired you to use Trello too! It’s definitely a great tool as well. You gotta use what you find most effective for you for sure. I didn’t know they added so many more colors tho! Love it! And I didn’t realize you could make so many workspaces either in Notion until recently. Have fun playing around with it!! And if you have any questions or other Notion features you’d like me to do a video about in the future, definitely let me know!
@@AuthorBrittanyWang I really want to know how you get it pretty. I'm really jealous of the formatting you have (as well as a few other youtubers as well.) I like things neat and tidy and I feel my personal workspace looks clunky. I'm still learning notion, it took me a while to figure out trello too, but I think I have the handle on that one. Personally speaking, anyway!
I could totally do a video about making your pages look pretty! Was there anything specific you saw in my page designs that you want me to break down how to do?
@@AuthorBrittanyWang How do you do the highlighted headers for starters? Those look so cool. Is it the same, as how your quote section is boxed in pink/red? That's so cool too. Also what made you pick the icons/emoji's you did for each section? They're so unified, I'm jealous. Mine's so random.
Oh! The highlighted headers are super easy. I think I might have showed it when I created one of the templates in this video, but just hover over the header and click on the 6 dots that appear next to it. Then go to "Color" on the menu and scroll down to background colors and pick the one you want. For the unified flat icons, click on your page's icon at the top, and then instead of "Emojis" at the top of that pop up, click "Icons"! Then, when you click the icon you want, you can select what color you want it to be :) Hope that helps!! I also have that first "Notion Basics" video that shares a few more design things you can play with, but I'm already brainstorming more things I can share in the future video, so thank you for asking for one!

I haven't started with Notion yet, your videos make me want to explore it. Looking at your other video/s on Notion and this one, I am wondering: Can I combine different use cases for Notion without it becoming very cluttered? I could use a place for series bibles and worldbuilding (using Scrivener for that so far), BUT most of all I need a place to keep my writing todo's AND marketing tasks/ideas in one place. I am using Trello for that at the moment and I get lost in too many notecards with different degrees of urgency.
I also use trello (for project management). As far as cards getting lost in degrees of urgency, i used to also have this problem, but with Reminders. I recommend looking into the Eisenhower Matrix!
Why create a new workspace tho?
U can easily do it in one workspace, right?
