No, you need a faucet with a treaded tip

The cover plate has a border, loosen the faucet and then tuck the white foam under the border. Push the plate with your hand while re-tightening the faucet.

@@StuffAroundTheHouse The cover plate is slightly tapered towards the ends while the foam is same thickness. If I had three hands maybe I can push both ends while tightening the faucet from underneath....

Foam seems to be stronger than the thin metal plate in terms of pushing back
