Since we live in the Mountains, a project similar to the Old Logging Truck you guys did a couple 2-3 yrs ago....Something Big and Loud, Gear Drive Transfer case with PTO for pulling yourself or others out of trouble but mainly to skid logs from a ways off the Trail to the Truck for firewood or "other" uses or projects.
A stump puller of a Diesel to put power to the ground but still be able to get to and from the Mountain Trails in a hurry if need be, of course really Tall but narrow rubber to get you through snow, mud, rocks as well as relatively smoothly down the Highway. Fabricate storage for all the tools and cables and straps a guy might ever want or need. Make it preferably a 1940's vintage Truck Cab to start with and incorporate it into a pkg. that looks like it was built that way clear back when but for whatever reason they didn't lol. Fabricate places to carry all my Chainsaw/Bar combos that need to be secured during travel to and from the woods. Maybe a vise on the bed that can be used to clamp the Bar to facilitate sharpening the chain on the saw. Maybe even a electric bench mounted Chain Sharpener when you start dulling the chains in the rocks when bucking up the logs ?
Of course a generator for power would be a needed option as well as a rear mounted cable winch to skid logs from the back as well....it would be like the ultimate off road rough country logging truck. Make the shifters out of old logging tools and the interior door and window handles out of similar items....kinda like a hopped up old skool but functional everyday useable bad ass to the bone log getting machine!
That is exactly what our Son and I would build and get honestly hundreds of hours use out of but like alot of guys....money to do all this don't grow on trees so it will just have to remain a dream project I figure but man just think how much Father/Son time our boy and I would get out of building and using something like this.....see I guess we kinda go against the grain because our Son and I have a great relationship and really enjoy working on things as a team.....It's because of this I have been lucky enough to be passing on all the knowledge my Grandfather took the time to teach me....I am now passing on to him....he's already a decent Blacksmith and Welder....were currently working on his very first complete Small Block Chevy build from tear down to start 'er up....he's learning everything to piece together a really strong Small Block using all early GM swappable parts....327 crank in a 350 block the right rods and domed pistons, how to find a good set of 202 power pack heads and how to do a complete rebuild of them plus how to port and polish, remove the pressed in 3/8" valve spring studs and install threaded 7/16" studs for bigger and better springs that can handle a good size roller Cam...you get the picture I'm sure Steve....I even had him build a Holley 750 double pump carb from a big box of spare parts I had....we have already tested it on our old K-5 Blazer he drives and he did a fantastic job.....I had to do very little adjusting to it to have it running like a new one.
Thanks Again Steve for all the fantastic Videos we really enjoy them.
      R.C. "Charlie" Hill and Son.
P.S. sorry the post was so freakin long.....lol.

As always straight up honest stuff.
I am in my early 60's My Grandparents Raised me and my older Brother and Grandpa worked for Mobile Oil building Bulk plants and later Gas Stations....I could honestly run a Cutting Torch before I could ride a Bike ! My summers were spent someplace in the West and Mid West from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, etc working with my Grandpa....so I fully understand and appreciate where your coming from and your doing a great thing here my friend.....greater than I think you might realize yet.
    Thanks Again.

That welder is just like the Lincoln "torpedo ". For uphand joints I like to use a 6013 for the root pass, it's a little softer than the 7018 so it burns a deep pass, then the 7018 for strength and it's pretty as long as you can weld dimes!

    Mr. Darnell and WelderUp crew
Just started my first year apprenticeship schooling this week. Only been welding for just over a year and looking forward to every year from here on welding. When I came across your tv show years ago, it struck two cords for me. Creativity and machines. When I need to get some creativity juices flowing, I'll watch some episodes. Being a welder you start to realize what you can all do and build. A lot of things you shop for, you can now build yourself for half the price; shop press, stands, mag drills, mills, lathe, etc. Love your content and the amazing builds you folks do.

That's how I learn so fast is because that's something u wanted to learn for a long time. Wishing I started right out of high school and not in my early 30's. Right out of high school I was doing body work with my friend he did all the welding that needed to be done I was the mud Salinger and sander and knocking out dents with a body hammer
Went to a community college to learn the basics then a guy took me under his wing and let me work for him welding learn so much more and still learning to this day everyday is a school day Gene Winfield would say
