My late mum used to put John McDermott CDs on while she cleaned the house whilst myself and my wee brother ran about the place raising havoc. To this day this is the version of this song that we remember. Now I know the full version of both the male and female versions of this song, and my mother is sadly long in the clay. Thank you, John. This version of this beautiful song has been a fixture of my life for literally as long as I can remember. No one could sing it better.
I've loved John McDermott from the first time I heard him sing Danny Boy more than 30 years ago. I've also seen him in concert twice here in Edmonton; one year he performed on Remembrance Day, a concert I will never for get. He is just an awesome, awesome performer and he sings to my Celtic Heart.
Thanks so much John... your song stirs up memories and sympathy for the Scottish cause..... so forgotten in north America......I remember this song when I was in public school back in 1950's....
I am an Asian. But my tear does not stop whenever hear this song.

I don't know why, but I feel sadness and something happiness from this song by you. Thank you again.
