    I can't believe this guy wasn't given the C. This gesture makes his huge contract worth it. At least he's giving back to the community that supports him. The NHL needs more players like PK !

    What a lad, he used almost all his savings from the five seasons he spent with Montreal to make this donation. People need to realize, hockey players don't earn 100% on their contracts. Montreal taxes 50% of contract's value and he also needs to spend it on the agent. In other words, he is earning less than 4.5 million with his new massive contract.

      @bobbyboucher1096 Před 8 lety

      +Curtis I Did you miss the very end? The money is coming from his foundation, he is spending 1 million out of pocket...Not enough to even put a dent in his, massive new contract, as you put it. Not to detract from his good deed, but I was expecting it to be 10 out of pocket as well.

    • @Hawktotalwar
      @Hawktotalwar Před 8 lety

      +bobby boucher I don't get then where does his foundation get the 9 mil from? So he just partnered with a group of donators and claim all that 10 million as his donation?

    • @bobbyboucher1096
      @bobbyboucher1096 Před 8 lety

      +Curtis I Yes! Exactly! There is no more to understand. Watch the the video again, "@1:44 Subban" will be making 72mill over 8 years and pledging 1 million of that... with the rest coming from his foundation (average donors, people that want to pay to play a round of golf or sit down for a meal with him) and yet claiming he himself is giving the hospital 10 mil . Granted, athletes can find far lesser uses of their time... but I click on this expecting more. I found it very pretentious. It's all well and good, but there are athletes that make far better gestures without the whole media campaign.

      +subrenaud You obviously don't understand what a "Foundation" is or does. PK is pledging around 1 mil (in the 7 figure range) over the course of the next decade. Show me an article stating PK is writing a check for 8 figures without the word "foundation" in it. I will patiently await your response.

    This is top notch and not to diminish what he is doing but the Sedin brothers dropped off a cheque foe 1.5 million to the Vancouver childrens hospital with no fan fair five years ago. I think many athletes do many thing great things, some just don't need a press conference to do it.

      +Towndrunk26er Dude you are way out to lunch - too many drinks I guess. First of all PK has been helping Sick Kids in Montreal area for years, visiting them in hospitals, getting them free hockey equipment, constantly doing work in the community which no one hears about. Secondly, by lending his name to this generous donation, it will hopefully provide incentive to other superstars to start donating substantial amounts to charity as well. Thirdly, 2 Sedin brothers give a total of 1.5 million versus one man giving $10 million? Do the math - PK just gave 15 times more than each Sedin brother - not to mention that he just gave over 15% of his salary. What the Sedins did is squat compared to what PK just did. No one else in Canadian sports has ever given such a n amazing amount. Go away and get a life.

      Bert Vanular Please do a little a bit of reading then get back to me. Subban is NOT donating 10 million dollars. He is personally donating 1 million and he is pledging to raise the other 9 million through his charities and by letting them use his name. I am not as out to lunch as you think. GEt back to me when you find out the facts. Have a nice day fanboy.

      +Pablo Rodriguez The $10 million is a combination of a personal donation from Subban - in the seven-figure range - as well as funds from the P.K. Subban Foundation and fundraising activities using his name and brand over the next seven years.

      Subbab gave a cheque for 5 figures only.
      The rest he will try to raise through his brand; appearances etc.
      I thank anyone for whatever they contribute but a multimillionaire like Suban who says he will try over 7 years to get other people's money for the hospital is taking a back seat.
      GET THE STORY CLEAR- He is to get the money from others... not through his cheque writing from h
      is bank account.
      The Press got the story wrong but persists to say he wrote a cheque for 10 million at one time.

      +Lew. Bon. ''GET THE STORY CLEAR- He is to get the money from others... [...]The Press got the story wrong but persists to say he wrote a cheque for 10 million at one time.'' Hmmmm not. Open your ears before spamming bullshit you heard about. This video clearly says he will give at least a million from his own pocket and the remainings through his charity fund. I'm pretty sure the problem is not with your ears though, but in your brain. I would bet you didn't even watch the report and went directly to the comment section to brag about... hmmm... being able to say bullshit in a youtube comment section? Seriously, what are you doing with your life that make you so much better than him damn? By hitting a puck he was able to help save countless children. What do you do?
