  • This is a review of the CATCHMASTER glue trap I purchased from Canadian Tire. I have been having trouble getting this rat to go into my live trap and my friend suggested I give this a try. Glue traps are not effective outside. Have you ever used a glue trap? please comment below.

      These large heavy duty Catchmaster glue traps work GREAT on flying squirrels!! I squish a couple walnuts in the middle and they get caught everytime!! I've caught 10 in about a week and a half in my attic!! They're great because they're easy and non toxic...you must secure them down good like in this video. I guess rats are bigger and smarter....

    The problem is that the trap is bolted down, once the mouse got trapped with his one paw by you bolted the trap down you allowed the mice to use his body to pull himself off the trap, once the mouse pick that glue hand up the trap would have went with it allowing other parts of it's body to get stuck to the trap, the more they fight to more the glue will stick to other parts of the body

  • @davescopes249
    @davescopes249 Před 3 lety +282

    You have made it possible for the rats to get back out to the glue by fixing it down with screws. With a sprung loaded trap yes fix it down but not a glue mat because if it isn't fixed down when the rat steps In the glue it pulls the glue mat towards itself and falls in and gets it's fur stuck. 👍

    Just caught a mouse last night with glue trap. They work fine in room temperatures. Placement is also important. In homes, they run and crawl along the walls and behind furniture. So I place them there and it doesn't take long. They have a two step behavior pattern after invasion: they go from hiding places to feeding places. Take away the hiding places with traps and they can't escape. They are invaders. We don't do humane. Protecting our home through kill has been with us for thousands of years.

    thanks for showing this, no wonder they haven't worked on the rats (they only caught a couple very few small mice). Let me first state I do NOT like glue traps (I didn't realize how long they can live when stuck on them, I just wasn't think when I first bought them). But I am desperate, beyond insane at this point, so I bought these types, and failed with getting rid of rats (they must have gotten stuck a few times and now will not go near them, no matter what food bait I put on them). I have tried every other available methods on market (poison pellets, baking soda mix, snap traps plastic/wood/metal, electric traps, cage trap, bucket flip lids trap). I just don't know what else to do at this point. I had a stray cat and she must have kept them from getting in the house (now she is dead a year, the place is infested with rats/mice). I can't get another cat, or I would. IF you want to keep rodents out adopt a stray cat that likes the outdoors and is a hunter (you won't have a rodent issue).

    I had problems with rats at a rental property, they made themselves at home in the attic.
    This glue mouse trap OBVIOUSLY is not tough enough. I got one that opens up like a book, and its yellow underneath where the glue is and a white border. Once they get on the board they don't get out. I can't recall the name, but Ace Hardware sells them for just over $5, ⚠️buy the big one that folds open. The only bad thing is usually they're still alive. So! I had to get past that, and put it in a plastic trash bag, and then put it in a box and taped it, and...off to the dumpster they go. At first, it was difficult, but when you have completely remodeled, and you hear them, you get tough after awhile. Do not nail the board down; that apparently gives them leverage to get out.🤔 If they jump or pull the rat will most likely get himself more onto to the trap.
    Also, the Orkin's guy said they were most likely coming in through the plumbing. You may have to get someone to smoke the pipes to find where the bridge is at. This can get expensive fast.
    Good luck!

    Glue traps need to be in a room temp or hotter places to be effective. The glue solidifies in colder places and isn’t as sticky on the surface, feels more like a silicone jelly. I put my glue traps under my kitchen cubbies and was wondering why the glue traps weren’t catching any mice but the spring traps were, turns out the glue was to hard. Worked fine when I moved them back to room temperature places,

    Along with screwing it down and putting it out in the open, you also, shouldn't have put bait in the trap. Food has oils in it that can degrade the trap's adhesive, making it less sticky.
    Next time, get one of those glue traps that have a sweet scent like peanut butter to it, then place along a wall or baseboard where you see the rat likes to run. Also, wedge it against the wall, etc. with something heavy enough so that the rat can't drag the trap along if it's only partially caught.

    You set the trap wrong. You're supposed to place it against a wall or corner so the rat will have less chances of escaping. The wall/corner blocks that part of escaping.

    • @michaelcorcoran8768

      It's also their behavior to run up against the side of walls to avoid detection. A trap right up against the wall usually gets them in short order in my experience. Prefer to use a snap trap personally. Less work. Probably a little quicker and more efficient
