We have a chat about how he came across the show, how it is directing episodes, the challenges of the job, how it has been saying goodbye to the character of Ty Borden after 13-14 years, and how it was leaving the show The Good Witch to film Heartland.

In my 66 years I have never been so involved in a TV show as much as Heartland. I watch a few episodes every day and it never gets old. Amber is the most incredible young woman I've ever seen on TV as far as all of her talents she has.
What did Chris mean when he said that perhaps the character of “Ty” was holding something back. What was he referring to?
I am 77 years old and live in South Africa. I love Heartland and really would love Ty to come back. It lightens my day and please keep going. Such a beautiful story the horses and the people are very special.

I don't like it that Gram is off the show, but there is more to it then they r saying.
I am so glad Chris took this part. I have grown to really respect Tim over the years. I didn't care for him at first but over time I absolutely changed my view of him and feel that he gives so much to this show and I love what Chris has done with his character. Tim overcoming what he did and his love for his family is truly inspiring. I can't imagine anyone else playing this part.

From France, thank you Chris, you are an amazing actor. Love Tim's character, he stirs up trouble but he is often funny and this show will not be the same without this troublemaker. Love his storyline in Season 11 and 14 with Jessica , he is more deeper than he looks like. His relationships with Jack, Jade are awesomes. Hope we will have a Season 15.
Tim\Chris what a duo!I love Tim and his character’s traits which provide contrast and tension. Tim is a challenge but a very interesting one who is talented. Chris, as an actor, director lends impeccability to the show as a whole and the great ensemble cast. Have been aching to know more about Chris so thanks for this interview.

Chris has the part of not nices guy but that is his part and he does excellent.. has sweet parts and sad. Doesnt know me at all just little grandma in country in west virgina but hes a celebrity of celebrities he doesnt deserve the cruel mean people that act like him and lies etc. God Bless and Keep you and all your family. I like Tim’s part in Heartland! It needed someone with that personality. I’m not fine with Chris as a person. He brags on himself too much, snd doesn’t mine criticizing others. Wonder if it’s because they get more attention. Amy snd Ty are why I watch the best series I’ve ever watched- Heartland.!! I only watch Seasons 1-13.

Great interview! Discovered the series Heartland late and have watched it fervently to catch up to current episodes. Have been a fan of Chris for years. Appreciated his silver lockes in season 13. A natural and flattering look! Appreciate his insights to the show.
In the beginning I didn't like Tim character, but as years went on, I changed my mind

I'm just the opposite. I liked the friendship Ty and tim had. Chris has turned tim into a manipulative idiot. As a parent he should be a role model. He has been a horrible example for young men. But, hey, it's just a show. He's suppose to be phony and he's done one hell of a job at it.

I love watching Jack and all the characters. Heartland should continue more than 15 seasons. I am watching the rerun for the tenth time. The scenery, music, humbleness, honesty, simplicity of this movie touches people's hearts. Love it.

Hey, it’s Tim! What an adept actor at doing layers to a person. He makes it look natural, how he keeps a lot to himself and yet shoots from the hip. Right from the start Tim was interesting. Also not hard on the eyes, lol! Best wishes from Toronto.
Amazing and interesting interview..."Tim" is extremely articulate...loved listening to everything he had to say...love to hate him on the show, just shows what a good actor he is!!!...and she's right, there is no other show like it! (Loved what he said about Graham at the end)

Hurry up May! Can’t wait to see Season 14. Miss Graham, wish him the best moving on. Heartland is about family and friends and those things change or sometimes end. We will ride that horse until it is over and then go back a re-watch to relive those memories! It’s okay. Thanks for the seasons😀😀

If Ty doesn't come back, a future love interest (likely the new man opening the horse therapy for troubled youth ranch), Amy's connection could be great but never equal to that with Ty. The Ty/Amy connection was once in a lifetime (true soulmates).
I can’t imagine a more beautiful area to work in but also can’t imagine the logistics with your family life. You look like you’ve been riding forever and your characterization of Tim Fleming, with all his personality ups and downs helps make the show sooo interesting. Some of them are not likable but they stand out so well done.
Chris ended it with a great description of their last season with all unexpected situations with filming & weather events. Gilmore Girls show is usually being associated with season theme but they almost always stay in same studio location. I’ve not seen the latest season yet but I know it must be tough one for some fans to watch this year.
My only regret is that I don't live in Canada and because I live in the US I don't know if/when I will be able to see season 14. I just keep binge watching all 13 seasons available to me.

THANK YOU ALL. Some how youtube got the first episode and I watched it in disbelief. Did not know that Graham was leaving. Those of you that have been watching don't tell me specifics but how does the show seem with out him. Don't know why he could do occasional visits or zoom. But not first time this has happened to me. Watching When all the heart and they too killed off a major character. Its taking me a while to get used to it. But again thank you everybody

Very real. Yes Amy has been exceptional. It seems all the actors have dug in and all the acting has maybe improved. I think this show can survive if cast, writers etc. don’t give up. It has been faced with a huge challenge and it is working. It can more than survive. It can flourish.
My favorite show i love it. It's a clean family show. There's so few of those.
I love that Chris gives so much credit to the writers of Heartland, as they truly are phenomenally talented and creative people, who don't get the accolades and praise they deserve IMHO. Just want to add and personally say this to Chris (if he should ever read this, that is!).........I know precisely what you're saying when you say that you don't like Tim, yet you love him at the same time. I also hate the way Tim acts at times, yet I still love this guy, as he truly does have a good heart and always attempts to do what is right, yet somehow he always messes things up. In spite of that, I still love Tim Fleming! Tim is a complicated and unique type of character and that is why I'm so glad CBC didn't accept anyone else except you to portray the complicated and extremely deep character, Tim Fleming. They KNEW that you were the only guy who could give this character his unique personality traits and portray this guy in the stellar way you do. You're an amazing actor, Chris and please know that all of us TRUE Heartland fans WILL continue to watch Heartland whether Graham (Ty) is there or not. There are many more Heartland stories that need to be told, so hang in there with this character, as I can foresee some really special things happening to Tim in future seasons of Heartland! And just have to add here as well that many of us fans absolutely LOVE when you and Jack bicker!! You two are SO funny!!

I completely adore Chris Potter in Tim's role. He is such a brilliant actor & has been able to portray Tim's evolution throughout the years in such a memorable way! . . I love Tim as a character because he isn't perfect. What real life human is?
He is flawed and somewhat troubled by his past history but at the core of it all he would do anything for his family.
This is an incredible interview with an incredible actor. :*) He was quite entertaining to watch; a very intelligent and interesting man.

The perfect role for Chris. Loved him in Wild Card, too. He was also good in Good Witch, but the character was not very deep.

To say Ty was holding the show back is pretty ballsey and a bit of fanney kissing. Ty was in the writers heads and was suppose to be brought out thru the director. So maybe that was holding the show back. If Amy wasnt delivering the performances you thought she should then look in the mirror. It could be fair to say that the actors have grown as individuals and it was timing and a positive regard that AM and GW held for each other that brought her performances up a notch. Deflecting can be a bitch that comes right back around.

Chris Potter você pode ser um bom ator, mas para a série Heartland você foi, é e sempre será péssimo. Debochado, chato, arrogante, maus hábitos, tirando sempre proveito em tudo, na minha opinião você é seu personagem já deu o que tinha de dar. Precisa repensar sua permanência na série, o que você já fez está de bom tamanho. A saída do personagem TY acabou com a série, o tiro saiu pela culatra. Já era você é Michelle Morgan sozinhos sem o TY não vão obter a audiência desejada. O que fizeram foi absurdo!!! Então espero que essa série seja cancelada, o público não aguenta você e Michele. À Netiflix já está anunciando a retirada da série no dia 31/12, porque será isso ?? Será que a se a série estivesse em ALTA a Netiflix não ia querer continuar exibindo ?? A série Heartland acabou na 13a temporada ou vocês ainda não perceberam???
