About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

I hope future generations understand what a marvelous idea it was to fill in the frames as Terry has done; restoring the beautiful edges of those frames. Well done, Terry.
Thanks Diana 🥰🥰
Great work on the frames and furniture. Can I suggest that rather than having someone else’s ancestors on the wall, you guys should have a photo shoot in the style! ⭐️
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
That would be really cool!
Oh yes defiantly get your photos taken in period clothes and replace those photos in your restored Frames.
Well done Terry and Tracy! Your work will be rewarded someday once your guest admire your wonderful work.
I’ve a suggestion comment. Have you thought about dressing in period cloths and having your portraits taken using the same type of photography. In a hundred years folks would talk about the young Master Jonathan living in the Chateau with his wonderful family.
Great suggestion! Thank you 🙏 😊
That would be such a fun thing to do ❤
Great idea!!!
You guys go above & beyond a lot of other chateau owners.
Thank you 🙏☺️
Escape to rural France is also good
Amazing what you can accomplish one handed, Terry. I've got to give you props. What?...Tracy taking over your upholstery projects...this woman is a sponge, learning new skills. Such a talented family all around.
Like Mother, like son.😊❤
Was just thinking that a portrait of Terry's lovely mom would be beautiful somewhere in this chateau! She has such stunning beauty!!!
Thank you 🙏 😊
Brilliant job with the picture frames, Terry. Losing the use of one hand hasn't slowed you a bit. I'm really impressed.
Thanks Lori 🥰🥰
Love the old photos! Do you know who the people are in them? Nobody thinks about all the little things that go into doing a good restoration of a chateau, and it's a daunting task. You all are doing great! Thanks for taking us all on the journey with you!
We don’t :( we just loved them and they needed a lot of love 🥰🥰
Terry, I'm so sorry about your fingers! I can only imagine your frustration. You've worked so hard. Everyone has. It's OK.
Great, I’ve been waiting for Terry to show us all how he repairs the furniture, I know that’s what he’s excellent at.
Well one of many things…lol
Thanks Kathleen 🥰
Should you recreate the old pictures with the members of your housesold, with the help of the new softwares? Can be very charming, considering all your work on the chateau.
Thank you 🙏 😊
The devil is in the details! Those little detailed jobs add up in a big way! ❤ Well done!
Thank you! 😊
I love watching Tracy ( my heroine!) I have an old colonial bank , and have been overwhelmed by this project , but watching Tracy cope but still create has been so inspiring! Thanks so much for inspiring me.❤
Thanks Sam 🥰🥰 she is an amazing lady! 🥰🥰
Terry, fantastic work on restoring the picture frames with one good hand. I was confused until you had explained why the fabric was swapped in the chairs. And, seeing the chandelier in the background made me more excited to see the bathroom completed. Your family is working so diligently and it really shows. It’s so close to being finished yet so far away! It’s been amazing to watch.
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow Terry. You need to teach restoration to all the other new chateau owners. You truly have mastered the DIY Skill on a no-budget brining back items to their original form and look. Most just white wash history and call it a day. EXCELLENT to SEE all of you saving & displaying history. Truly a chateau!!!
Wow, thanks ☺️
Yes, absolutely! What talent, patience and vision! Wonderful to see!❤
Excellent comment. I agree!
Wonderful pictures Terry - even if they are of The Adams Family!!! A more sober bunch of family members you are unlikely to meet. But, hey, we've all got weird relatives. Count your lucky stars they didn't show up to stay for the Christmas period....
😂😂😂Thank you 🙏 ☺️
I am picturing myself in a room with sticky goo stuff and red velvet, and I am telling you the two would combine somewhere along the way! You folks just amaze me. Everything always looks wonderful.
Thanks Bobbie 🥰
Thank you for sharing again the details on the epoxy resin and the silicone. Brilliant!
Love the attention to detail Terry, even being one handed you’ve done a cracking job!
In ore of Tracey’s never ending energy. Missed Ash in today’s vlog too.
💗🇬🇧
Isn't it sad that all these beautiful early photos and artists' portraits get lost, forgotten or just not valued by their families and end up in flea markets. It's nice that you're bringing this couple back into the light. I have many many old tintypes and sepia photos of ancestors and my sister has charcoal portraits of our great grandparents, and seeing what you are doing reminds me of how I need to label the backs so my kids, nephews and nieces will at least know who they are and maybe not so easily toss them. If there's one thing these old chateaus and 'family seats' were good for, it was maintaining the history of generations.
I agree it's important to know our roots- to value the lives that have gone before us. I wonder if one of the ancestry websites could identify the people? It would be interesting to know who they are and when and where they lived at least. I think the guests would find it interesting.
Something to think about is that France was involved in endless wars in the 1700s, the French Revolution ending with killing the royal family and many aristocrats, the Napoleonic wars, conflicts with Germany, warfare in colonial wars up to 1960, the two World Wars which had enormous effects on French families, communities and economy. Pictures just speak to those losses, not lack of care. So nice to see the portraits given attention and respect.
True that,@@judithbecker564 Canada has been involved in far fewer wars and conflicts, but even our flea markets are full of old portraits and entire albums of photos. I think all over the world, people lose, and throw away, their histories. Meanwhile here I sit surrounded by my great grandparents' furniture, wondering who on earth will want it when I'm gone...
Even with one hand you manage to deliver Terry!
Thank you 🙏 😊
I probably sound like a broken record, but I learn the neatest stuff from you.
I hope the hand is healing well, Terry. Cheers everyone❤xxxx
What's Terry do with one hand I will NEVER do with both ! Thats a fact! Happy New Year for you all!
Thank you 🙏 😊 you too! 🥰🥰
Oh my word! I love this video! I had asked before how you did it and you said it was in another video... I searched and searched but couldn't find it. I assumed it might have been in a "membership only" video. BUT! Voilà !!! Here it is and SO helpful for me. I have a lot of antiques that need this technique after spending 23 year's in the military and having to move every 3 years... It took it's toll on my treasures! I am so glad you were so detailed in explaining the "hardening time of the resin" you probably saved me many hours and how much working time I need to block out! Thanks so much Terry! You all are so talented and informative every single video! To know that you are learning and teaching us at the same time. (No, I don't want to see the "bloopers". 😂) Where I live it's difficult to find quality furniture refinisher's not to mention the fact that many of this generation are throw away and replace instead of repairing. My children aren't interested in my 'stuff'... when my daughter finished college and got married I assumed she would want her baby grand piano... Nope, she bought a clavinova... Now I'm stuck with this piano that takes up half of my formal living room. I am having surgery on my hands soon and I pray I will be able to return to playing again myself. Terry, seeing you using your broken hand 'gingerly' has given me hope that I WILL be able to make it through this surgery recovery alone. Happy New year to all of you! 🎉 Many blessings into 2024!
Bless you! Thank you so much. So glad the video has helped you!
Good luck with your surgery and we pray your back playing your piano soon! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!
I wish you all the best in your upcoming surgery
Genius is my opinion of you three! Tracy is never afraid to try something new and always succeeds, and this is the norm for all at the Chateau LaLacelle. 2024 is sure to be full of excitement! 😊
Terry you are truly blessed with talented mom. I think your mom feels the same about you.😊
I have a frame just like this found in my brother's old garage, I used wood putty to fill in and rebuild. Then I painted it gold my favorite picture that I drew is in it ❤️
You did it again Terry!!! And with only one hand! The chair looks fantastic. Applause to both of you!👏
Meticulous work there, Terry. Carole will be proud ❤
Thank you 🙏☺️
OMG, it has been so long since I saw you last year that I forgot that you had broken your hand!
Moving forward with progress!
2024 and more!
I love the use of siligum to restore the picture frames. What a fantastic product. I watched Carole use it to copy missing plaster pieces in her grande salon. It’s so nice to be able to restore antique pieces yourself. xx
Can you tell me the name of the company that makes the silly gum? Trying to find something similar in Canada. Thank you!
I love the jumper Tracy is wearing, and I really commend you Terry for solving how to repair the picture frames as needed.
Lovely restoration guys
Great job Tracy and Terry. Every little job gets you closer to the finish line. Love the old photos and frames. The salon set looks very comfortable . Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Tracy, the furniture looks beautiful! You are a wonderful woman and I admire your perseverance. I see where Terry gets it from! Great job on the picture frames Terry! You and Ash have taught us a lot along the way. Wishing you all great things this new year!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Please take the best care of your hand. Give you Mom a spa holiday at some point, she is just the best.
I’m sure the picture frames would have had brighter gilding in their day and have just dulled over time. Interesting process recreating the frame mouldings, thanks for sharing.
You are all amazing! Praying your hand heals well. Love the rooms. ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
You are all so brilliant! I have never seen a family restore a chateau and work so very hard, and so skillfully mastered! I am so proud of you all!
Tracy you need the Ryobi battery staple gun. It’s a game changer.❤
Developing talents without fear of failure! That is an amazing lesson to learn.
What a brilliant idea to repair the frames nobody will ever know...there is no end to Tracy's skills she has done very good job ❤
A wonderful start to 2024 at the chateau! Those picture frames will look perfect once you find the same colour for the trim, which I know you will, Terry! Tracy- yet another feather for your cap! You are definitely a Jill of all trades! Bravo! ❤️🇨🇦
Happy new year! Thank you 🙏☺️
Terry you and your family are turning your home into a dream home wowxxxxxx
Great job on the picture frames Terry even with one hand 👏👏👏Tracy you did an amazing job on the chair 👏👏👏👏
Excellent solution, Terry. Tracy, you are amazing!
Thank you kindly! 🥰
This was the best New Years gift ever! The suite is turning out fantastic! I so love Tracy! She is such a brilliant worker and has an eye for design. I can’t wait for the 400 salon to be completed. I know it’s going to be magnificent !
Thank you 🙏☺️
Such a fabulous job done restoring those old frames dear Terry. It's truly admirable. That silly gum with the resin turns out really wonderfully when the new bits are put in place. Loved seeing Tracey dealing with reupholstering the old chairs too. What can you not all do when you put your minds to it I ask myself? So very well done.
Really clever and impressive bit of restoration ... and i bet you picked up those pictures for next to nothing because of the condition of the frames! 🥰
Great job on the frames!! Wonderful upholstery work
Love Carol and Adrian at Chateau de la Ferte!❤ Wonderful idea, Terry, to fix the frames! They look fantastic already! I learn so much from your DYI!! Now if we all could just design like you!!!!! Well done both of you Terry and Tracy! ❤
Hi Terry! Thank you for sharing this information about how you made the trim bits. This was so helpful! I have some antique mirrors and frames I bought cheap at a charity shop and haven’t known how to fix them. Thank you much! Watching your mum upholster, I thought she had done it before. I would love to learn how to do that, as well. I have so many old things that are nice antiques, but just need new fabric on them. She did a beautiful job.i think I need that tool that removes the tacks. I have dining room chairs with nothing but tacks on the front and back and seat. If I can do it myself, it will save so much money. I am glad to see you are up and able to keep working, given your limitation with your injury and I am happy to see you still have a good spirit about you and haven’t let it get you down. Do you take vitamin supplements? I have been taking Vitamin D and magnesium and calcium and I believe it has really helped heal my arm. I take Vitamin K2 which makes these bone vitamins go to the bones and not to your soft tissue. The Vitamin D has also prevented me from getting sick this winter, which I usually do. Vitamin C also helps us to heal tissue. You might consider it. Keeping busy is key. I shall do it myself! Much love to all of you! Happy Hew Year! Love from, Jill Anne
I love those old picture frames with the old pictures.
Thank you 🙏 ☺️
Looks amazing. Mom is also doing a great job as well. I’m gonna try apolsering my couch as well with hot glue.
Exciting! Kudos to Carole for sharing a great thing.
Thank you Brett 🙏 😊
Wow, you're still cracking on even with one hand Terry! You are a trooper!
Happy New Year to the Dream Team
Happy new year! 🥰
Well done on those chairs Tracy, it's not an easy job. The picture frames are going to be beautiful when they are painted and hung. So exciting for the decorations and furnishings to be going into the rooms. Carry On!!
What an amazing job restoring those. That suit is going to look really good.
An excellent video. Loads of detail and it's wonderful to see how you go about these "little" projects. Still looking forward to you guys installing the bathroom furniture and the furniture in the salon.
That beautiful green chair is a comfy read-and-a-glass-of-red chair, so definitely billiard room, library or if you changed your entryway into a garden room/salon, it would be perfect. I've always wrestled with that space being a dining room
Hope your hand heals soon! 🤗
Well done Terry, good job on the frames & your mam has done a brilliant job on the upholstery, cant wait to see the 400 suite finished, its really exciting !!!!!
You and me both! 😂 Thank you 🙏☺️
Terry, I wasn't sure about the silver strip in the bathroom, but it looks stunning. I'm glad you are still managing to do something while your hand heals, it would have been very frustrating otherwise. Go well
Did a similar restoration on some drawer corners in my kitchen that our dog chewed when a puppy.
Used my glue gun to create a mold then car body filler to fill the mold. It adhered really well to the wood. You can’t tell which were damaged and which were not.
Your picture frames turned out great.
Always good to see how it’s done by someone else. X
Thank you 🙏 😊
You’re doing a wonderful job Terry even though you only working with one hand I’m right handed and had to have surgery on my right elbow trust when I say I was not able to do anything try as I might to do whatever I could with my left hand it was just so hard much respect to you Terry for pushing forward with one hand all of you are doing an Amazing job Happy New Year to you all sending love from the United States 💜💜
I adore old photos, well done Terry x😊
Thanks Clare 🥰
Wow Terry, you never cease ti amazing me, even with one hand out of action, you still managed to get the frame done & well done Tracey on your upholstery skill aswell ❤❤❤❤
Thank you 🙏☺️
AMAZING WORK!! Wow! Your collective talent is awesome! ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much! 😊
@@chateaudelalacelle I think a better Idea would be some portraits of you now, to hang most stately homes in England always have the old with the new. You are the family that are bringing this Chateau to life now not in the past.
Have you ever thought of having photos taken of you all in period dress similar to the ones you are renovating now,I'm sure it would be fun and something for your visitors to talk about when they realise it's you xx
Great to see that daggy old red velvet coming off those furniture pieces! 🥳🥳
Great work on the frames Terry and Tracy on the chairs.❤
Sorry for your injury. That was a great video. I learn so much and get great ideas from your work. Thanks.

Thanks Johann. Happy new year to you too! 🥰🥰
You must use Amazing Casting resin, sets within 10 to 20 minutes…goes in clear and goes white when set, lovely to use around corners when still warm!❤
