گندم گولی کا استعمال گرین اسٹوریج کی تحفظ میں اہم ہوتا ہے۔ گندم میں کیڑوں اور مکھیوں کو ختم کرنے کے لئے عام طور پر گندم گولی استعمال کی جاتی ہے۔ یہ مرکب گیس فوت کرتی ہے جو مکھیوں اور کیڑوں کے لئے نہایت زہریلی ہوتی ہے۔
گندم گولی عموماً ٹیبلٹس، پیلٹس یا پاؤڈر کی شکل میں دستیاب ہوتی ہے۔ انہیں بند ٹھیلوں میں رکھا جاتا ہے جو کہ ان سمیٹا مقامات میں ہوتے ہیں مثلاً گندم کے استوریج فیسلٹیز یا چوڑیوں میں۔ گولیوں یا پیلٹس کو موسمیت یا ماحولیات کے ساتھ رد عمل کرکے گیس فوت کرنے کے لئے مائعیت سے رد عمل کرتے ہیں۔
گرین اسٹوریج میں گندم گولی کے استعمال کے لئے ہندسہ سے برتری رکھنا ضروری ہے۔ اگر درست طریقے سے استعمال نہ کیا جائے تو گندم گولی بھی انسانوں اور دوسرے جانوروں کے لئے نہایت خطرناک ہوسکتی ہے۔ مرکب یا اس کی گیس کا سانس لینا یا کھانا زہریلا ہوسکتا ہے اور حتیٰ کہ موت کی وجہ بن سکتا ہے۔
