RENT: Korea vs. Japan

I got CZcams clips of both the Korean production and the Japanese production of Rent that happened this year and made this video so we can compare. Note: The Japanese production got cancelled after they uploaded their clips because of the COVID pandemic. None of the video footage is mine.

Note: There are two different people you see playing the roles of Roger and Mimi in the Korean bits. That is because in Korean musicals, they cast two actors in one role, and they alternate. Also, some of the footage for Korea was from the Rent showcase the production did, not an actual production/performance clip.

The Japanese production did some interesting things with scenery. I like that set for “What You Own,” with a backdrop of the US in the 1990s in the background.
But emotionally, I think the Koreans understand better than the Japanese actors did.

렌트가 2011년도에 오프브로드웨이에서 리바이벌을 했는데 일본팀 코스튬들은 오프브로드웨이꺼랑 똑같네요
