European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the EU Green Deal one of the pillars of her mandate. From agriculture to energy and transport, each sector will have to radically change to meet the EU’s objectives to become carbon neutral by 2050 and remain competitive globally. While the EU has tabled a lot of legislations to combat climate change, it will need to go a step further to meet its goals. The war in Ukraine has also upended the fragile economic recovery from the pandemic hindering EU’s competitiveness.
