The film quality is great. The color and sharpness is the best I’ve seen of a motocross race of this period.
Like Brad Lackey said 'when men were men and bikes were JUNK"... But I would give anything to go back to those days.... motocross was my drug...And boy was I hooked....PSK
These guys paved the way which led to the bikes these spoiled brats ride today. Don't forget where our sport came from and show some respect.
Yes, now all I hear is easier to ride, easier to start!!!! More like easier to break! Buck up pussies!!
Wicked video thanks for sharing missed the sound and smell of the old 2 stroke oil
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁✌️
1978 .... j'avais 1 an ....
Alain Rey
Suzuki were killin it back in those days.love rm's
Magnifique!!!! salue da Italie , w la France!
What a great video! I was glad when the batteries ran out on the toy synthesizer at the beginning though lol
de belles images. merci
La qualité des images est impressionnante !
Fantastic quality and colour.
This was back when you said " I've got Preston Petty's on my bike." Sadly kids today have no idea what that means.
Preston Petty's and just a little later on a Green Weenie.
When the noise stopped, I liked the vid better. :)
Honest and friendly look back.at top international riders
Holy shit! Whatever camera filmed this is amazing! It looks like it was filmed within the last 5 to 10 years! Would almost think I was watching a recent vintage race until I saw all the older cars in the background
Makes you wonder if digital is really better then analog, or if talent is just lacking today.
Its funny how much dirt bikes have improved since the 80's power & suspension....
This is awsome film footage.
Super souvenir
Scrambling culture 👍good days
Interesting ,wish I had the details of track, rider s ect. Film is good and when the sun came out much better viewing.
Thats 1979, looks like a fun track
Si oui me faire signe.
Intéressant
Thats so true. Its a cruddy shame. I prefer the early 70’s when the shocks got moved up and everybody had offset axles. Then at the end of the decade the “fim” rear mounted side # plates..best look for me . Especially the works bikes…
What year was your big bore YZ..
je suis un fan de j j bruno et j'ai ma 5eme ktm
I wonder what it is like, being one of those kids playing around at min 11:10, and seeing you there 40 years later on you-tube?
best bikes made in that year..
87 were
What was that little kid doing in there on a Honda Z-50....maybe it was Jeff Ward when he was first starting out....I dunno.
My dirt bike is 1985 so modern.
The early stages of long travel suspension, twitchy bikes for sure.
NO 4 STROKES HERE BOYS
Yes Denis Vimond CCM
Maybe a Yamaha TT500 motor, frame combo.
genial
Nice looking track, would be more interesting w/ experienced pilots though. Bengt Aberg
Bent Aberg’s career was over a long time before this was filmed.
BTW, riders like JJ Bruno were no slouch. He finished second in the world mx 500 championship...
its odd that it says its from 1978 because some of the bikes are definitely 1979 models
+flyinbryan1619 In the beginning of the video it says that it was held 26 august 1979
I noticed that too. Specifically the ugly fenders that came on the RM Suzukis in 1979. You just can't forget that kind of ugly.
1979 was still a good year compared to the fenders of the 1984, They outdone themselves this year. Just google it. You'll be immediately convinced.
The 84 RM feders look better than the 79 fenders, but I agree they were ugly. The 79s were so ugly the factory never used them on their works bikes that year, an indignity the 84 fenders did not suffer.
1979 was also the year most (if not all) motocross bikes came with FIM mandated side numberplates. This was the biggest tip-off it was post 1978.Hard to believe this was so long ago.
I like RM 125,250..SUZUKI....sweet..
exactly what I see 79 Maico, Suzuki
Where's the sound of the bikes ?
Musics. E. Immagini.? Favolosi
lol look at motoX now and they spend alot more time off the ground that's for sure!!
???? music is the bollocks!!
Who is it by??
Dirt bikes are here to stay
sound affects drove me off! yeh I know turn off sound...just go to another presentation too!
Thays jumping. They are landing on the ground.
Pas de sonnnnn :/ :( :( :(
4 minutes 56 on apercois Patrick à gauche
Not as good without the sound of those bigbore 2 strokes
Nice choppy , bumpy grass track, looks like old Unadilla
Yeh ok ...its not the U.S.G.P., but you young guys should check out the outdoor track and short suspension, nothing better than outdoor MX,,,,,before the days of Entertainment Sports.
Not 1978, it's 1979
Thank you ! ;)
It says something about 1979 in the beginning of the video. I don't know what it says because it's in French but the year is plain enough. Bikes are 79 for sure, the N series RM's were easy to spot and Honda had that goofy 23" front wheel
1978? With 1980 Suzukis roostin? Hmmmm?
yeah,I definitely saw a 79 RM in the first moments
Guy at end think it's Bruno..anyone else we RICKY CARMICHAEL..CUS I SWARE LOOKS LIKE HIM 100% OR HIS DADDY
I can see some 79 suzuki rm /n
Plus de son sur la vidéo 6 m '(45...
I enjoyed this vid. The clarity was refreshing . Not often found on CZcams. Especially anything from the 70’s. Most of the x i have my device muted. Wife doesn’t like the noise. Especially the 125 class ..,
Please take the music down and let us hear the bikes
Watched for the first few minutes or so. Or should I say slow. These guys rode like local B class riders.
look at all of them fuel injected bikes!
Ditch the bloody music . Spoilt the video . Thumbs down because of it .
Couldn’t deal with the annoying music
A 125 bike today would probably scare these guys.
Ruined by techno noise
Music Horible!
I reckon a beginner with a months training on a modern bike would win this. Kinda comical watching this today.
