HOW TO FIT A CATCH CAN & FUEL WATER SEPERATOR FILTER TO A BT50 | DIY install on a 2017 Mazda BT50

  • In this video I fit 2 easy modifications to the BT50. A Crankcase ventilation filter and a fuel /water separator pre filter.
    The whole package comes as a kit from Ryco and it's an easy DIY install for anyone who's a bit handy with mechanical jobs.
    All up, the job should take you less than 2 hours and all the new components fit neatly on the supplied bracket in your engine bay.
    This Vid should give you a good idea on how to fit the components and what they actually do.
    Cheers guys.

    Great channel Justin, I know exactly where you’re coming from with the mechanic comments. As an ex-mechanic going back about 35 years ago, best thing I did getting out of the game, however, the basic skills learnt I don’t think ever leave you ie. built in torque wrench & general knowledge for doing basic stuff like this.
    Recently purchased a Yorktown tool roll myself, nice bit of kit. Cheers, Paul

    Always good to see old videos when the kids were younger!
    I tried doing this today,
    Ignition didn’t bring any fuel out of the hose when trying to bleed.

    once that is fitted, how often would you change the separator filter and how often for the factory fitted filter. I imagine you'd change the new filter at the same interval is they recommended for the factory one and then start changing the factory filter at an extended interval? yea na?
    Also idk if i missed it but did you have to remove anything to make room for the water separator kit? like in the mazda/ranger engine bay is there something in the passenger side by the firewall already?

    • @TripInAVan
      @TripInAVan  Před rokem

      The space was there for the kit, no need to remove anything. So I change my engine oil filter every 10,000. The catch can filter I change every 40k

    I like the idea of Dual Fuel Filter as the Australian Diesel it is bit a poo po, but still not sure the reason for the Oil Catch Can. I am sure that the engineers did considered it and if is needed why stop it (I am not an engineer just wondering). Do you really need it? And do you have a special discount for us? Noticed Fuel Manager has better pricing. Love the BT50 love the Channel

    • @bullfrogIII
      @bullfrogIII Před 4 lety

      With the combination of the exhaust gas recirculation and that oily residue going through the intake, it makes your intake build up and eventually choke itself. Over all reducing engine efficiency. By filtering the "blow by", removing the oil, the exhaust soot by rights should keep flowing through and not bind to any surface.
