- I experienced another issues with my 131K+ miles Ford Focus. I was told recently, my reverse lights do not work. I checked the basic: fuses and bulbs. They were find. I decided to replace the reverse light switch - BINGO. I fixed the issue in 30 minutes. Watch the video to see how I replaced the reverse light switch and in result how I fixed the reverse light problem.
I have used:

Hi Mecowhy. I really like this video & found your channel courtesy of Mike from Autovlog!!
I admire people such as yourselves for making youtube careers which is why I have subscribed to this channel. I wish you luck for the future & keep the great vids rolling.
From Wales, UK....good luck & good job as always XD Owen :-)
Awesome job. Im subscribing because i like the way you work on your car and keep the engine nice and clean.
Thanks for your video! This was a great help for changing the backup light switch on my 2000 Camaro!
Hi how are you is it the same place in ford taurus 2010 because my reverse light not working . I checked everything beside this switch
Hie Mecowhy I've got a problem on honda fit gearbox can u help am failing to have oil pressur, at one point it dosent drive wen its hot
Nice job! Maybe you could go into more detail on how you do things. Like knowing that the battery had to come out first and why you wrapped the end of the battery cable. I find your videos educational and entertaining. When is the next one?
Thank you for your feedback. It is very constructive and I will improve on the feedback in my future videos.
Just to answer your questions:
- Battery and battery box is removed in order to access the switch. Without removing the airbox and battery and would not be able to reach out to the sensor.
- I have wrapped the cable to ensure the cable does not touch anything with ground on it. Even though the battery is disconnected, some electronic system might still have some charge it them, and I rather be save then sorry.
I hope this helps!
That's a big task having to. remove so much to get access to reverse switch on that car!
A long 22mm socket & wrench is another option than a spanner
I have a manual transmission, M5OD I think it is.
I'm not sure about this for my issue. 1996 manual transmission Bronco (all stock). My Reverse Lights refuse to come on. #5 15-amp fuse good, bulbs new and tried new ones also, Reverse switch on tranny is good. I jumpered the wire to be sure. All ground wires test and look good. Something is not allowing power after the fuse and tranny switch to reach the backend, or it has a broken power line after the fuse and switch on the main harness somewhere.
Does the Reverse lights flow through this switch on a manual? Thanks!
Thank you bro this really helps !
Hi my reverse light not working and my sensors stop working could you please let me know what's the issue is
Thanks for showing the video i got 2009 ford focus se 2dr that is strange right under neath the battery.
I have a similar problem with my 2017 Tacoma. The reverse lights come on intermittently, so i believe its the switch. Would the problem be, the shifter handle where it slides to make contact or the switch on the transmission? If I wiggle the shifter the back up lights sometimes come on or go off.
Does your car have reverse sensors aswell?mine have stopped working along with the reverse lights I'm guessing its on the same sensor.
Pls can you tell me where is it on a Ford bantam 2006
I just noticed looking up the part and others on Amazon, Rock Auto, and even Autozone, the switches all say manual transmission. Mine is an automatic. Do you happen to know if that makes a difference?
I would assume the switch would be different. I recommend to call the dealer with your VIN number and ask for part number for the switch. Also switch location on an auto transmission might be different then what I am showing in the video.
@@TheRealMeCoWhy Yeah, I tried calling one dealership today and they wouldn't tell me the part without making a service appointment. They got a bad review on Facebook from me for that. I'll call my family's mechanic tomorrow and ask them what the part is. There are like four recalls on the Focus. I really hate the car. It looks nice and I like the seating style, but things keep breaking. My 2009 Toyota Rav4 V6 Limited has 100,000 MORE miles than my Focus and I haven't had a single issue with it that wasn't regular maintenance.
Do you know the location of the reverse switch on a 2013 F-150? I'm youtubing but no videos come out on that specific vehicle 😟
Great beard 👍 great video.
Indica car pa ka eatai ya switch?
I did change the bulb and fuse and still doesn't work so hopefully when I change the switch, it will work.
Thus video was GREAT it solved my odd problem. BUT now the reverse light stays on. XD it just stays on. So.. Now i have yet a new odd problem.
I have to do that to my ford focus. Just got the switch.
You don't need to take the engine mount off like previous models?
No sir. Fairly simple job.
@@TheRealMeCoWhy Thanks. I have an MK3 Focus SE and I checked the bulbs and new bulbs and it wasn't that, I checked the fuse and it WAS burned out so I switched it, checked again, still nothing, so the only thing left is that switch. Where Ford put this stuff is like a big middle finger to everyone. I did a video myself on how to replace the horn without taking the bumper off.
@@TheRealMeCoWhy Just in case you didn't know about the horn trick: czcams.com/video/0SDmVatNqKI/video.html
@@LORDRA1DEN the question is why was the fuse blown. I would check it again. It is possible there is a short or wiring issue somewhere. If the fuse is blown again, I would search for a short (between fuse and the lights) that most likely is the culprit.
1997 GMC Sonoma pick up 5.sp.2.2 en.backup lights on transmission
What if only one light has gone out? Could it be the switch that needs to be replaced?
Most likely light bulb
I bought new ones and it didnt work, i also put left light that does work into the right side and that didnt work either.
Check wireing, fuses, connectors etc.
If the switch was bed both lights would not lit up
You didn't have a 7-8 inch or 22?
This guy is dishing-out advice on cars, got no tools. Lol
Is this for automatic transmission?
Yup
Actually this fellas is a manual
It is the same procedure for a 2010 Ford Escape, because I already looked for it and did not locate it.
I've changed my reverse light switch and now I have reverse lights in all the gears except 5th gear
🤣🤣🤣🤣👏
I have a 2019 hyundai elantra my reverse light dont turn on

Omg. You must edit the music out of your video!!!
Waste of time trying to watch this at this speed .
What a fucking ordeal just to change a switch
today's fucking cars .. they're full of sensors, switches, digital .. and there's always something wrong ...
