And it seemed like he wanted to make a huge ruckus with everyone crowding around him. And if you see him, you are going to do everything in your power to interact with him. So now you and hundreds of others are in a stamped to get Logan's attention. Yes, the craziness is partly because of fans, but it is also due to Logan being there to begin with. And all the security sees is someone causing a lot of trouble. He doesn't know who Logan is.

    One sentence:
    "Not knowing the rules doesn't excuse you from breaking them."
    In any situation or a public venue, this is true in any circumstances. Otherwise, it's a mess.

    • @earkin9
      @earkin9 Před 7 lety +2

      It doesn't excuse you from breaking them, but it makes you less of a bad person. These rules aren't really about morality. It's different then saying you didn't know whether or not its okay to kill, because thats obviously not morally okay. Giving your fans 3,000 is morally okay whether or not its against or supporting the rules.

    • @NinjaKittkatt
      @NinjaKittkatt Před 7 lety +4

      True because all it does is encourages people _not_ to read the rules because if they break one they can just claim to not have known. Rules are only rules if they're enforced without any special treatments.

    • @ScarfeeEdits
      @ScarfeeEdits Před 7 lety +4

      +Eyral Arkin you're missing my point. Intentions in the venues of such caliber are usually less important than the consequences.
      Hypothetical example: I came into the VidCon lobby to give people that came to meet me free merch because they already paid $150 for a ticket, and I don't wanna make them pay more. In the result of a stampede, five people were severely injured.
      The fact of giving your fans 3,000 is morally okay.
      Creating a dangerous, property-destroying, stampeding mob of 12 to 16 year olds while doing so? Not so much. Especially when you know what the consequences of your actions are going to be in advance.
      Rules are there for a reason.

It just shows he doesn't care about them or their safety. Having fame needs to come with certain responsibilities. He is responsible for this mob and the harm caused. If we don't place responsiblity on someone for inviting something they purposefully did then we fail as a society. This doesn't mean your responsible when your fans go and harass (or threaten) someone else, unless you tell them to do so and encourage the behavior. This is why you have senators and actors making statements against violence.

      rainynight02 Fran never said that. Being barraged with the level of hate they get is a pretty unique and awful experience. They're definitely stronger than the dudes who express hate for them. And yeah, it's not simply criticism, it's dehumanizing disrespect and cruel digs about their looks and race and and gender, calling them slurs like sluts and cunts and retards and being overwhelmingly misogynistic and insulting their husbands and boyfriends as well as making threats of rape and violence - and this by the cohort with the online power, the popular cool kids/boys, for years and years. Laci's reaction of breaking down and crying when finally confronting one of her primary harassers and letting him know how his disrespect effected her and what his fans had been doing (though he probably knew about a lot of it already) stems from the same place of hurt as Anita's reaction. Crying makes you look more vulnerable and sympathetic and soft but is not the only understandable reaction to have to meeting your bully. You'd think these women were murderers with level of hate and contempt directed their way. It's crazy to me that so few, Phil included, can understand how seeing your biggest tormenter in the audience could upset you. Serious lack of empathy for harassed women who don't act sweet enough here.

I don't believe either example should be blamed on their respective celebrities, but on the disturbed persons who committed those crimes. The only time that a youtuber should be held responsible is if they explicitly tell fans to do something illegal. If you don't believe these examples don't hold any ground in the argument that youtuber's should be held responsible for what their fans do. I can't think of any other arguments other than those two.

It's also different because being social-media famous is built almost entirely though direct interaction with your audience. An actor who has been "handled" and knows they'll create unsafe situations would never walk in a public space like that. Harassment or legitimate criticism? Anita Sarkeesian said in one of her first videos, that rescuing a female from kidnappers, for example Mario rescuing the princess in super mario bros, is an act of objectification.
    Rescuing women from their captors is objectification of women and sexism...
    From that day onward, she kept trying to top herself with more bat shit insane stupidity, and yes, many people felt the need to point out how bat shit insane her arguments were... She has had her comments section disabled on every single one of her videos, ever since that first video.
    Anita Sarkeesian does not receive harassment, she receives public backlash for her insane and insulting content which she publishes on the internet. Anita then pretends that this public backlash is misogynistic harassment.

    So the day after Anita bullies someone, she's on a panel talking about bullying. Sargon is _critical_ of Anita, and being critical of someone in the public eye is neither harassment nor is it bullying. Calling someone in the audience a "garbage person" is not being critical, it's being an ass. Logan Paul showed about as much respect to the Vidcon event and staff as he has his own work/audience, none. And broke ass Justin Bieber doesn't deserve a comment. I'm sure Anita would have something to say, though.

When he was running around and attracting a crowd him and his fans almost knocked over my mom who has difficulty getting around (she has ankle problems and limps so she couldn't get out of the way). He has zero respect for other people and should not be allowed back at vidcon.

For God's sake, Anita, there's no need to cry wolf every time you see a dog. Shutting down and belittling people for having dissenting opinions is one of the reasons people don't want to publicly support feminism.

      I honestly do not understand her and most Feminists logic in that. Rationale discourse with those who one disagrees is not a bad thing. It actually can help one's position. By understanding the opposite side and why they think that way, that can cause self-introspection. And that can be a good thing. It allows one to figure out if their beliefs or ideas on the world stand up. But who knows? Maybe, I am being crazy in this case. It is why I often categorize most feminists as regressive and poisoning the well, as opposed to sharing it/ adding to that well of knowledge.

    What Logan Paul did was obviously careless, stupid, and dangerous. The way he laughed while running from security shows very clearly that he has mistaken his fame for godliness. He sees his fans as both validation of that godliness, and as a protective barrier through which the rest of society must break before he is ever to be held accountable.

    Its funny she mention Franchesca Ramsey. One of the people there named Andy Warski has made far, far more videos and harsher criticism of Franchesca Ramsey than Sargon had of Sarkeesian. However at vidcon Andy and Franny met up, had a long conversation 1 to 1, made a huge deal of progress, and managed to put aside their huge dislike of each other. They acted incredibly maturely, made a lot of progress, and nobody felt "harassed" "intimidated" or any other form of victimhood. Anita needs to stop speaking for other people, she was wrong about Franny, she was wrong about rape victims, she was wrong about cripples, she was wrong with just about every single group she tries to speak for. Especially when the latter two are openly begging her to stop.

    • @olivialambert4124
      @olivialambert4124 Před 6 lety +15

      +SDW175 I hope that's not the case :( It legitimately sounded like something positive was happening. I mean shit, Andy gets more views than she does, if anything its her channel "leeching" off his not the other way round. I do genuinely wonder if she says things like that for attention and views, and by extension if she was two faced about the Vidcon incident if she also did that for attention and views. Its quite obvious why he was cautious around her, she constantly goes off on one any time he so much as hints that she might be wrong but to flip that and an explanation as to how normal social interactions (ie. jokes) work into "grovelling" seems pathetic.
      +MsAJ92 She is constantly trying to exploit it for attention and victimhood points, despite not being a victim of either. She sits there making up how terrible the world and the police forces are towards rape victims (quite the opposite in my experience) and is constantly supporting and promoting people who have been caught out and categorically proven to be lying about having been raped along the same lines as "listen and believe" even though common sense would suggest that it might create a backlash towards anyone claiming to have been raped in the future, and people less likely to actually believe it. She constantly flips out about rape jokes and demands we all start believing that they are entirely unacceptable and damaging to rape victims, despite rape victims being some of the biggest purveyors of rape jokes due to their known benefits to recovery. Essentially the only people supporting her behaviour regarding rape are those who haven't been raped. Almost every rape victim I know (dozens upon dozens) strongly despises either Anita's approach to rape itself or those with the same approach Anita takes. It is known by both the experts in rape victim psychology and the victims themselves that her suggestions are some of the very worst one can follow.
      As for cripples, she uses the same tactics of attempting to be the spokesperson for cripples as a form of exploiting it for attention and money whilst exclusively saying things the huge majority of cripples disagree with. A society which is both forced to support all disabilities at huge cost to itself or face even larger fines whilst simultaneously being given quotas and grants to encourage hiring of cripples isn't "deeply problematic" or attacking cripples in any way. If anything society is too far the other way, small businesses shouldn't be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars they can't afford just so 0.6% of the population in a wheelchair don't have to ask for a little assistance. Or forcing disabled bathrooms in clothing stores and those unrelated to using a restroom (again tens of thousands of dollars). Or even forcing gyms, athletics stadiums and general sports training centres to add a wheelchair ramp or elevator next to every set of stairs just in case a cripple in a wheelchair decides to train in a specialized facility for the 100m sprint and doesn't want to ask a willing member of staff for help. Seriously, this is the state of it right now. And of course cripples getting preferentially hired above others at a significantly disproportionate rate far higher than the number of disabled in the country (and ignoring that many disabled like myself can't even work anyway making the numbers even worse) and giving grants or fines to companies based upon that number. All of it suggests society is broken trying to bend over backwards for cripples. And the biggest complaint of the again dozens upon dozens of cripples I've asked (support groups are a hell of a place for that sort of thing), that people treat them overly nice and they'd simply like to pretend to be a normal person. Again its a case of Anita saying a bunch of lies which bears no relation to reality, asking for the very opposite of the desires of the group she intends to exploit, and generally making life noticeably worse for both the group she is "helping" and the rest of the world forced to bend to her whims and slowly getting pissed off at the group she claims to speak for.
      Basically she is exploiting both, she is doing the opposite those she "speaks for" desire in both, she is making things very noticeably worse for both, and I'm sure its quite clear how much I dislike her behaviour. Exploiting other people's life-ruining problems for attention and money is bad enough, but damaging their lives in addition to that is a lot worse especially when her sole claim to authority is that other people are the damaging ones.

    Anita is just trying to peddle her bullshit again. Sargon wouldn't just go and punch someone clear in the face like Anita claims he would. He simply wants to see how she acted in real time in front of a real audience. Sargon was definitely in the right here, as he did nothing disruptive or threatening to the panel in any way what so ever. She simply attacks whoever she wants and then hides behind her victimhood shield and crying "hate speech, harassment, bullying!" She is not someone you can argue with on equal grounds, as if the debate is perfectly unbiased she has no advantage over you.
    if the roles have been reversed in any way shape or form, Sargon would have immediately been reprimanded and kicked off the panel as a result. it's disgusting how flagrantly abuse of power in that scenario is. It's not fair to Sargon, it's not fair to his audience, it's not fair to anyone who had to sit there and listen to this woman berate him simply for buying a ticket and attending her show. I can guarantee you have the roles been reversed, Sargon would have faced immediate massive scrutiny and would have been shunned universally by the media and anyone there attending who had no idea what Anita Sarkeesian's true motives are.

  • @MonarchsFactory
    @MonarchsFactory Před 7 lety

    I see what you're saying, and I'm glad that you would personally attend the panels of someone you've clashed with in order to keep an open mind, but I think you're giving a lot of benefit of the doubt to other people in assuming they'd be the same way.
    Take as an example, over the last year and a half I've had a particular person harass me across every single social platform on which I'm present - over that period the messages have developed from common or garden creepy, to threatening suicide, to violent/sexually threatening, to just the same innocuous phrase 800+ times over one night, to at least one message every day for the entirety of 2016 and beyond. By the end they were just leaving a single word on any and every post I made anywhere; it in itself didn't mean anything, but (like an anti-safeword) it was the culmination of all of those horrible things that came earlier and served as a deliberate reminder that no matter where I went or what I did I wouldn't be able to escape it.
    Clearly it's different, but you can see how something which, from an outside perspective, looks harmless can be perceived as immensely threatening with the whole picture in mind. I'm making no comment on whether what Sarkeesian said was just, but I certainly have empathy towards someone who, when feeling understandably vulnerable and threatened (whether that was intended against them or not), reacted with defensive anger.
