- in this tutorial i create a simple faux marble effect using @AnnieSloanHome Chalk Paint. The technique is very versatile and could be used over contemporary and vintage style projects.

I have watched your video about 50 times in the last 24 hours because it is the ONLY marbling video that I felt I could realistically do on my wall and it turned out amazing!! I wish I could post pictures to show you. But thank you so much for breaking it all down.
You can post a link to eg imgur. I've managed to do that successfully before. Be nice to see your result... 🤍
Very few furniture makeover CZcamsrs that claim to be "furniture artist" can live up their declaration, so it is a real pleasure to see those who really are --- you certainly are!! Your faux marbling came out great and your instruction make it look a breeze to do 😉 Thank you!!
Wow wow wow thank you so much I’ve worked so hard over the years and just singular comments like yours make it all worthwhile I really much appreciate you taking the time for these lovely words I’m really humble PS give the marble a try once you get the flow it’s not too bad 😄
I'm a professional painter. You spoke of laquer, well BIN laquer primer dries really fast and it sands really easy and it can be tinted to any color. BIN is great for priming ANYTHING including metal and finished urethane wood. I love your videos BTW!
Thank you so much for the info and of course the compliment much appreciated 😊❤️🙏
BIN certainly does the job, but it's filthy stuff unfortunately... 🥴
AS's lacquer is a top coat - similar to a polyurethane varnish. It's toy-safe and well under 50 VOCs, compared to BIN's *_500_* - which has to be officially labelled as a hazardous substance. 🤢
Best video I've seen that created a real marble effect. Brilliant!
Best tutorial! And I watched several lol now I’m confident 😊thank you
You’ve given me the confidence to try it. I think I’m going to try a tiny bit of gold. Great Job
Thanks for sharing this. After numerous failures and repainting this method is VERY difficult for an untrained person. Obviously some people have the talent for this but at least you have taught me this is best left to professionals 🙂
Fixing to try!! Beautiful!

For all of the hard work maybe i’m sure it takes time I just keep on chipping away thank you for your lovely comment x
Incredible work! 👌🏼
Amazing …. Love the wax tip as well
Wonderful!
That really does look like marble. You do great work.
It's so funny how nervous I get watch and worrying how you will remove parts that look think, or using the feather and how will that go, haha. Then you keep brushing away and viola it's great. Thanks for sharing this - glad I found this video, it will help me with a coming up project.
Great tutorial as always!
Hi from Quebec, I love your tutorial a d I am happy that youtube put your videos on my list. I will post my marble in January, yours make me feel OK to marble a real wood acrylic paint furniture

Faux Marbleizing Technique Tutorial. 🔑
Very nice explanation. Adorable!!!
Beautiful. Perfect. I love it. Great job. I’ve got to try this one. 🙏🏻
Let me know how you get on I would love to see pictures of your end results 😃
That turned absolutely beautiful!!! If I hadn't seen the tutorial I would never believe its not real marble. Btw: all this time I applied the wax only on the final layer of paint! Thanks for the useful tip!
Wow thank you very much and all of the tips are absolutely my pleasure so plays it to make a difference 😄
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove how did you paint that beautiful flower on that drawer cabinet . Did you have an instructions on it ?
@@puririfcacionbonzon580 unfortunately I don’t have a tutorial on that I think I have a fast video of when I’ve painted it but it was just hand-painted I really must do something so you guys can I am with
Me encanta ver tus vídeos pero sería perfecto una tradición
This is the best faux marble video I've seen. It actually looks like real marble.
Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
Always my pleasure, thank you so much for watching 😊❤️🙏🙏
This table is stunning, the feather technique added to the contrasting lines.
I’m going to give this a try.
Thank you Johnathan.
Oh it’s absolutely my pleasure thank you for watching ❤️🙏
Perfeito 😉gratidão gratidão 🙏
This looks amazing honestly, I love it!
Oh thank you very much so pleased that you like it 😊❤️🙏
💕⭐️Quite amazing thanks
Thank you so much for watching😄
Inspiring Jonathon.
Hi Jonathan , you’ve made me want to try this now cheers
That makes me happy I only want to inspire let me know how you get on 😁
You are so creative! Thank you! Love from Greece 🌹
Thank you so much and lots of love back to Greece x
Great tutorial ! All your tips are so usefull .Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much that fills me with joy 🤩
An excellent and informative video: many thanks.
(I do wonder, though, why the camera pulled away to a long shot, around 22.27?
We want to see what is happening to the surface, not an image of someone standing in front of a table, tapping at it with a cloth(!)
The final result certainly looked impressive.
Beautiful work! Love the marble finish and seems easier with chalk paint? Also love the floral cabinet in the background.
Why thank you very much so many people mention the floral cabinet in the background is hand-painted I was just having fun but it did come out really beautifully
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove I actually thought it might be decoupage, but hand painted!!!! It's a WOW. Don't suppose it's for sale??
@@janicebelcher2829 thank you so much it will be for sale but I don’t tend to ship furniture around are usually sell just locally🤪 I have finished painting the bottom half of this now and it really does look beautiful x
Have just managed to get a mahogany sideboard and want to use this effect on top. Brilliant tutorial. Thank you
Oh wonderful please let me know how you get on I’d love to see pictures as well ❤️🙏
😮🥰 excellent! You make it look so easy. I may have to do me a practice board.
That is really a great idea, QueenB. The influencers I watch, always practice on scrap of whatever they are painting, staining, etc. Better to make the mistake on the practice board, plus!! you can perfect the technique. Or at least get a "feel" for it! Good luck!
Enjoy your day! N
Beautiful work thanks
Hi there thank you very much😊❤️
This came out incredible. I’m definitely trying this for the top of my apothecary cabinet. I do have a question though. If I wanted it to be a semi-gloss what would I use and would I only use it for the final step/coat?
Brilliant tutorial, thank you for sharing...now it's my turn 😬
Wishing you all the best for great results 😊❤️🙏
😍😍😍😍
That looks great! How would you add some glitter to it?
Hi Mark . OMG ! I ❤️❤️❤️ that Technique ! Just Brilliant
The one thing I didn’t know is that you can paint over wax 🤔
How Long before you waxed the end result 🤔
Hi. I am trying this today on a table top. I have all products. Wondering how long you let each chalk paint dry before doing next step? Thank you. Excited to try
Oh I know this is an older video but I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe somebody will read this and have a solution. I want to do this so bad but I don't buy animal products so I'm having a hard time finding a faux feather that I can use instead of the real feather. You'd think there'd be so pheasant feathers all over the place but there isn't surprisingly. Is there anything I can use instead of the feather that would work exactly like it or close to it or does anyone know where I can get a faux pheasant feather? Oh I hope someone still reading these comments and has a suggestion because I desperately would like to do this and I know that the feather will make it so much easier to get this look. Thank you in advance.
How might you use gold gilding wax, or would you use metallic paint>
How about using this on older laminate kitchen counter?
Didn't see rhe link for finishing the lower part of desk.
So sorry hadn’t realised I haven’t linked in the other way round here is the link czcams.com/video/T0JylkgnL2A/video.html 😊😊
Thank you for the so many great techniques!! I’m wondering if you can poly over the wax? I’m doing a bathroom counter and presume that to be the best approach around a wet area? Thank you, again! Your piece is beautiful!!
You wouldn’t need to use the last coat of wax then you could go over with Polly or even better if you’re using as a countertop use resin 😊
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove thank you! Jonathan! The issue with using resin, is that you cannot place hot items on top, & be sure to use a cutting board!! The heat will damage the resin.
Hello Jonathan,
I love your channel. Question: can i use this technique on real (damaged) marble? Greetings, Margaretha
Hi there! This looks amazing! What wax did you use?
Annie Sloan clear wax 😊
what kind of wax was used . . . oil based or water based
This old white looks like pale pink
Hi Mark . WOW WOWZA!
What a Great Technique ❤️❤️ IT
I didn’t think you could paint over fresh wax 🤔 One more Question How long to wait when you’ve finished the marbled effect do you Wax 🤔
Once you’ve completed your project and it’s completely dry you can wax straight over the top of course wax takes a few weeks to fully cure and harden so you must be careful on what you put on top of the surface just cover protect for that first month pretty much the same as any other chalk painted surface 🙂
What kind of wax?
I’d love to know what the wax you suggested is called? I can’t figure out the right product
Oh I’m so sorry that I didn’t mention it is Annie Sloan clear wax it’s used to protect her paint as a topcoat
Hi from Greece. Congratulations very nice work. If we want it to look shiny marble can we use varnish instead of wax?
That’s a great question yes you could use lacquer or even better still maybe epoxy resin to get a high gloss finish 👍
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove thank you ❣️❣️❣️
Be careful using a resin you cannot set anything hot directly on the surface, and use cutting boards to prevent scratches.
@@donnabacon4681 thank you for the tip❣️
@@panagiotapenny5748 you are so very welcome! You just have to be sure to use trivets
Enjoy your day!
Can I do this on a glass top ?
Chalk paint will paint over glass and marble surfaces so I don’t see why not just make sure you get the two layers of preparation correct and I think it will be Possible
You need some training in the art..
Thanks for the great tutorial!
Thank you very much Let me know if you give it a go 😊
