I know right? Cosmo couldnt even stand up to Adam's punches at his peak while he was uninjured while in here he survived being smashed in to a wall after taking a beating from Akoya, who is strong enough to injure Haruo. Not to mention his leg was bleeding after Akoya bit him like a motherfucker.
I mean sure you can say Ohma is too tanky to survive against Raian but his body was already built for it since Adamantine Kata requires toughness. Lmao I just ranted, Im just salty because I wanted to see Ohma vs Akoya instead of Ohma and Cosmo dry humping eachother.
It was this fight that made Cosmo my new favorite character. He was so inspirational.

This fight was sick, this was the one that really made me realize how good imai actually is
Akoya won this match twice before his defeat, first when Cosmo was about to surrender, next when Cosmo passed out due to pain, Akoya madness caused his own fall when he pushed Cosmo to his limits

@Meditatin_Bry Gaolong was (technically still is) a Muay thai fighter before becoming a boxer and way later in the manga we get a capoeira fighter (who funnily enough fights gaolong)

And It was after this fight that just like Ohma when he fought Rayan,had something awakened inside of him ,a true spirit of a great fighter. Fighting is not killing time,it’s a struggle to survive.

Akoya has so bad reputation in Kengan Association that when Kengan Omega(the sequel) came out and a huge tournament was held. When his match came and he came out into the ring, the crowd was like "we can't quite cheer for that man". That's how evil he is in the eyes of the crowd and why "Executioner" suits him the most
The crowds reaction when Cosmo changed his stance was priceless
I remember reading this fight in the manga and screaming at Cosmo's victory, i'm so happy the animation not only lived up to the hype but made it even better

@Curtis McMoarn Well it's not really plot armor when Akoya's crazy was so heavily foreshadowed, and he was a bit of a smug son of a bitch even before that.
Besides, Cosmo's a submission based MMA fighter, and they're renowned for last second victories after their opponent has been kicking the shit out of them for most of the fight.

Reading it was amazing, watching doesn't disappoint as well. Kengan ashura is goated.
What i like about this match is that akoya clearly can win the fight if he finish early and let imai cosmo surrender. But instead, he wanted to bully the kid so bad that ended up choked by imai. The match later on between ohma and imai is great but i also want to see ohma vs akoya at some point.
Fun Fact : Akoya is a fighter with the fastest reflexes. Currently, no one has been able to surpass him

Still though, genetics plays a major role, since some high level pros just couldn't obtain such look while others can.
Best fight in the anime right now
To break down how messed up this fight was:
Akoya bites out a chunk of Cosmo’s thigh, gives a brief monologue, then as Cosmo looks at him like a sacred puppy, he faces him onto the ground, makes it so he can’t scream, forfeit, etc. and then begins breaking his ribs with his thumb.
Even the arm was damaged and trust me his back should be broken

Im gonna be honest...best fight in the whole series
This match, for me at least, made no sense and felt like Cosmo had bigger plot armor than Ohma against Wakatsuki. Akoya, in the most gentle way possible to say it, *DESTROYED* Cosmo. I mean, he gave Cosmo countless bruises and damages from his strikes. He bit out quite a big chunk out of his Leg which led to a lot of bleeding, he nearly destroyed an entire side of Cosmo‘s ribcage and followed it up at the end by slamming his 114 Kg weight full force onto Cosmo (especially his head) and the wall/ floor. Cosmo might have had the will to win, but his Body would‘ve literally given up on him at this point. He wouldn‘t even have enough power in his force anymore to choke Akoya out. Yet, because of plot armor, Cosmo won, even thou Akoys technically already won once in this fight by Cosmo losing consciousness.

Cosmo os my favourite character even in the manga and when i was watching this ep was the edge of my seat
I love Cosmo, but this fight scene was so hard to watch for many reasons:
1. Akoya poking through Cosmo's ribs with his thumb.
2. his terrified panic of punches.
3. The leg bite that told us, this is going to be brutal!

This was hands down the most disturbing fight in the entirety of the anime so far I mean not even the brutal slugfest between Ohma and Raihan was this messed up. But this fight this fight was just disturbing on a whole new level I mean Metsuda's daughter on commentary said it best "This isn't even a fight this is straight up torture." I mean thought Akoya's transformation from uptight asshole obsessed with justice into a soulless, inhuman vengeance obsessed monster and the torture he put the likeable Brazilian JuJitsu specialist that is Cosmo Imai through in the manga was disturbing but the anime managed to make it even more disturbing. I'm so glad Cosmo managed to somehow survive the torture and win hearing him scream "I'M THE KING OF STRANGLERS COSMO IMAI!!!!" signaling his victory made me glad mostly because it showed what he can really do and was one of the moments that made him a likeable character to me and many of the fans.
This fight is what made Cosmos my favourite
