Thanks a bunch. My friend gave me this 2002 Eurovan two years ago. I didn't run much, bought oil and filter but procrastinate to change oil. After watching your video I will change oil this weekend.
I was told by real factory experts that all that plastic needs to come off. And to me it does make sense you can’t have that up to 90% blockage on the inside of the filter’s flow. Now either the filter makers repeated a stupid error as with all or most the aftermarket axles all being a half inch short.. and many using air springs on the rialta that are not the 9” “-7100” type.. .. or on the other hand.. why would it fit at all if this was wrong? (Note that it does crush the filter. Taking it out to inspect after initial install and before engine start will show this. Truth I’ve seen now with my own eyes..). I’ll volunteer too do an oil change for an engineer I know as mine is the much clearer 2000 12v AES engine. Remind me to report back. Let’s settle this once and for all? Lol
You left the small oring on the filter.... That comes off and goes on the drain plug at the bottom of the filter housing. Not s big deal but even if you don't use it. Take it off... I would want it floating around if it came off.
Simple task, but I appreciate the cleanliness/ organization as you work, and attention to detail. Wonderful traits in the mechanic.
I feel like if this van could speak it would have almost the same accent as this man :)

Thank you very much, the video really assisted me. I own the Van with the same spec also.
Thank you! Great video! I’ve been wanting to change my oil in my Eurovan Weekender.
Thanks for the videos. Very helpful! 👍
I was just told by independent VW mechanic the oil filter housing is plastic. This cannot be true..validation is appreciated..
Would be nice to know the specifics of the oil filter - what’s the part number?

Great motor.

Thanks I did not know that... I'm trying to change my oil this afternoon. I will see if the filter I buy comes with an o ring.
