.300 WinMag vs. Rutting Georgia Buck! WARNING: Harvest Video

Welcome back to Unguided! It's fall here in southeast Georgia. The leaves are turning, the temperature is dropping, and the whitetail are on the move! The rut has kicked off early this year, with bucks chasing and breeding does already in October. Opening weekend was a little slow, but I was able to make a little magic happen in the late afternoon on Monday, the 3rd day of rifle season. I was only in the stand for a grand total of 43 minutes this afternoon, and it was action packed! In this video, there are great shots of young deer in full rut, meaning the does are in heat and the bucks are looking to breed the next generation of offspring. This magical time only occurs for a few weeks out of the year, and these are the weeks we live for. This time is the greatest probability for catching a good, mature buck in the open, and thankfully for my freezer, it happened for me just the other day. There is also some great audio of deer sounds in this video, as I was able to catch this Georgia "Swamp Donkey" grunting with the shotgun mic as he went after 3 does he was looking to breed. Our lovely state has a little more relaxed deer hunting laws than others, allowing you to legally harvest 2 bucks and 10 does every season. My goal every year is to tag out on 2 mature bucks, and that just happens to equal the amount of meat that will get me and my family through the year. Wild venison is one of the leanest, cleanest, tastiest proteins that exists on God's green earth. I'm sure I'll catch hell from some anti-hunting people out there, but ask yourself this: Where does my meat come from and how is it harvested? I promise you it is not as organic as this. Hunting has been a practice of mankind since the dawn of time, and here at Unguided, we honor our roots and traditions and love to pass these skills on to our young, as well as anyone looking to learn why it is we love this great earth and its resources so much.
