What I do sometimes is after cutting a little with the matabo I look to see if the cut and the pipe are the same with if not I keep cutting till they are that’s usually where the weld ends
The tube does not matter, what matters is removing the tube without cutting it so that the piece does not remain inside the elbow, so that a longer tube can be placed inside it
If you have to ring a weld usually it needs to be removed for a longer pup so it's okay if you get into the pipe a little bit. Look down the blade, walk it around the bottom of the Ell that your saving. Try to only go as deep as the weld. A trick to remove it is using a pipe wrench. Hammer works well but a pipe wrench works really well when the hammer isnt doing it.
The crevice you’re cutting into gets thinner as you’re cutting away ofc. You can use a cutting gauge, or eyeball it. What I do is when the metal turns color (blue or brown) it normally means that it is thinning enough to where it can be cracked with a mallet.
Believe me 😂I have had to cut out many socket welds myself 😅 a good pipefitter always knows how to correct his mistakes to achieve perfection! 👏 This Man is a brilliant craftsman in disguise 🎉
Hey, i just wanted to share the Gospel that all men need, the Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) this means we all deserve death and separation from a perfect and holy God. But God did not leave us for dead, He sent His only begotten Son to die in yours and my place, so that anyone who believes in Him and repents of sin will be saved from separation from God, and have eternal life! I urge you please put your faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him, He promises to save all who cry out to Him and have a humble heart. We arent guaranteed another day so we must repent of sin and seek Him today while He may be found!
Lots of fluid other than water/glycol can go through schedule 40 steel, fuel oil for example, high pressure steam better to socket weld to prevent leaks at threads
Cutting wheel on a grinder. Just FYI, it’s not a “tool” for newbies to be using since it’s probably one of the most “dangerous” in the trade when used improperly.
We called that procedure: "popping a joint." Once the weld gives up, you can actually feel a popping sound, thus the term.
Or ringing a weld
I wanted to be a pipe fitter but my gag reflex was to bad and my knees are old and sore.
How does he know when to stop so he does not cut in to the pipe ?
Doesn’t usually matter, with the piece you are taking it out for a reason
