Fell in love with Max's car only to find out it was a FORD which blew my mind cause we didn't have that body style here. Burnouts are therapy, no matter if your into cars or not, seeing something totally off its chops, or something stupid do a burnout, will always bring a smile to your face, ALWAYS
Came back to this video after watching supernats 2020. Epic
A) I love Aussies, B) burnouts at Hoonigans have officially been won, and C) I love Aussies!
I use to bash on these builds so much back in the day, and I ask myself why. But in all honesty this is probably the most fun one could ever have with a car. This is the kind of shit we do in video games, made reality.
They are silly, the shortened axles rolling on skinny tyres giving them that weird stance, huge motors hanging out of the bonnet, but I've grown to like them over the years. These burnout cars are brutal, purpose build for smashing tyres to pieces, but the pro cars are so well presented.
It's pretty funny to me that doing burnouts has become a sort of professional sport, but as others have said it's pretty much because of the heavy policing of car culture and drivers in Australia. But a lot of places have skid pads and hold organised events for people to go and smash it out, it gets them off the street (well, most of them), the guys that really care about cars will be attracted to those sort of events rather than risking their cars on the road so it leaves the yahoos to be cleaned up by the coppers (you would hope).
It's just a shame the media doesn't care to differentiate between the yahoos and the genuine enthusiasts and paints everyone with the same brush with their anti-"hooning" hit pieces. Even in these comments you can see Aussies talking about how strict things are here, most police are okay here but it doesn't help when bleeding heart pollies put pressure on them to go hard on any little driving offence. Getting a bit off topic though.
But since it became an organised thing we started seeing these purpose built burnout cars with their weird stance and motors of ever increasing size and power. Like the time trial guys with their gigantic spoilers, just takes a little bit to get used to the sight of it, until you realise these cars do not fuck around 😁 watching them tip in and rip around amongst a cloud of smoke while hammering the rev limiter, screaming supercharger going off it's head, trying to pop the tyres before the radiator pops and trying not to punch any speed holes in the block, the sound and the smell is so intense there's nothing like it.

I genuinely don't know how these Aussie burnout drivers, especially the guys in the massive blown methanol monsters you see at Summernats, keep those things off the walls when they're swinging in those fairly narrow burnout pits. It takes some real skill to handle that much power, with little to no rear traction, and blinding smoke, and not only not do any wall taps (which are instant DQs in Aussie burnout competitions if I remember right), but stay in the throttle and keep going. I used to think they were just hooning around, but the more I watch these guys, the more I appreciate their skill both with a wrench and with a steering wheel.
