Haskell is ABSOLUTELY hard mode! I think it’s rad when something you’re working on or exposed to in one place translates into you learning/practicing with the tool or language in another place
I like Elm very much. I tried Haskell a few times, I finally started making ground with it when I got into "Haskell Programming from first principles" by Allen & Moronuki. That is an excellent book. Truly. All the best from the UK.
I used to love Elm. It was a really nice language. Sadly it's pretty dead these days. I will join others in recommending Elixir though, it is much more approachable than Elm as far as functional programming languages go. It also has a very interesting and easy to understand concurrency model that is a pleasure to use.
That’s too bad! I’m enjoying learning it so far. I am really excited to try scala and/or elixir later this year too :) so far this is feeling a lot gentler than haskell
A lot of the times the reason isn't because it's the "best" option, as much as it's what I need to work with / learn / get experience with. Sounds like a great choice!
People always trying to find the best or most optimal, and while there are merits for that especially in business, when building for yourself the best is the one you are motivated to use. I'm on board with ya.
I wouldn’t recommend Scala, it has become a very complex language. Too many features which provide different ways to do the same thing. IMO Clojure and Kotlin are better options for the JVM. I have done Elixir, I really liked it. I want to try Gleam but first I need to get my Go skills stronger, I have been doing Java and Python for too long :)

Right?! Learning for fun is the best. It’s also always great to find things that stand out to you and drag you down a new path to explore

But Bash, why Elm? 😜🤣💗
Devin probably can’t write functional code

Thanks! I think “for fun” is a great reason to try things heh :)
I forgot you've tried Haskell. That explains a lot actually
It explains why my brain is the way it is (rekt)
Keep it up girl 👏
I am doing Racket, it has some nice Beginner books😮
All the reason you need is “because I want to”. Doesn’t need to be some sort of elaborate strategic reasoning.
elixir is a great intro to functional programming.
Go for it! My job uses a lot of C++, so I've been looking into that too hopefully be involved in other projects.
Awesome! What else are you thinking of exploring? Functional programming?
👏👏👏
Makes sense
Elm is dead.
:(
great reason, and also cool lang
Based comment
because
If you wanna learn Haskell, first learn Elm
I'm still .net and angular.. I'm so old haha.
sorry to hear that
@@simonhylander7489 burnnn lol
Why not JavaScript? 😂
Why JavaScript? 🧐
@@bashbunni Because it's simpler and easier to learn JavaScript.
@@DarthVader11912 sounds boring :(
@@bashbunni I get that
You are so beautiful
Mommyyyyy
Htmx > elm > everything else
Language that pays the bills > everything else
Another php dev rollin’ up to the chat in their lambo
@@bashbunnilmaooo damn this had me rolling 😂😂
Yeap.. love you but you are bit complicated 😊
have you tried elixir ?
not yet! I've seen some erlang, but elixir and scala are on my list of langs I want to try
