Beautiful build, very good attention to small details. 2 things I would do... Wire your woofers in parallel instead of series, woofers don't behave the same series vs parallel in very low frequencies. Reason why subs never get wired in series. Second, you should at least brace front baffle against back one. Doesn't matter how thick the plywood is, at this surface area with a couple of hundreds of watts the baffles are going to flex and waste energy at low hz's. Simple truss would do. :)
congratulations on the whim of your project. I'm from Brazil and I intend to do a similar project, but I intend to put a drive for the medium and high.
Awesome craftsmanship, sounds wonderful as well, thanks for sharing, I'm now a subscriber, I'll be watching you my friend, keep up the good work, I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your videos in the future, take care and be well !
I'm about 1 more session away from completing my 2x12 bass cab build. I've intentionally gone for a beat up/grungy look to hide the fact that my carpentry skills aren't as flash as yours haha. Excellent work!
REally nice cab. I like the where you used the dowel rods. That should help a bit with the lower freqs. I have to admit that I wouldn't have thought of using "Alvin and the chipmunks" as my shop tunes.

Wow!That looks awesome! What are the specs?Inner/outer measurements, total weight, impedance, etc..?Do you happen to have a building plan of it?If so, can I have a copy of it?Thanks in advance.
So i want to put 4 8 ohm speakers in my cab in parallel to get 2 ohms for my head which outputs 500 watts at 2 ohms does that mean the speakers i need to be rated for 500 watts each or do i get 200 watt speakers or something?
This is a question for all who’ve commented including the builder. First of all excellent work! My question is this, has anyone ever considered a cabinet build with three bass guitar speakers and a subwoofer for the fourth? Or maybe a 2x12 cab with one bass guitar speaker and a subwoofer all being the same size?
Bryan Mullen Well, the idea of the bass in the same box is not very good. Apart maybe and it would be very good. as long as you get what you want and want to listen. But I think that if you are looking for a box for an electric guitar, it would not sound very good because of the bass question. Since it is for electric bass it would be very good because all the notes would be heard. I am looking for the measurements of a 2X15 cabinet for the electric bass and I do not have them. If you have them or know the video link I would appreciate it. Regards
Nice job. How many watts are you giving it? I'm thinking about building a 1x15 & 1x10 cab but only have a 200w power amp at the moment. Enough for medium-loud home jamming you think?
Avesome job, the tolex job was perfect! What volume are you working with? Impendannce? length/width on the bass port? I would like to build something similar maybe 1x12" though.
Wow! Looks nice. I'm just finding your CZcams site while looking at different ways to build a 2x12 bass cab. What is the final weight with the speakers. I'm using an Ampeg 4x10 Heritage cab right now, and trying to go lighter. Also, have you made any more of these for friends or to sell? Thanks
Hi there. I have questions... I wanna make a cabinet like that. Can i use with processor? I think i can use processor as an head amp. Is that bass speakers or full range? Thx.
Hey there! 2 100 watt speakers would give an amplifier rated for 100 watts plenty of headroom! The wattage rating on speakers is the most amount of power they can handle, so one speaker 100 watt speaker with a 100watt amplifier might be pushed to its limit but if the 100watts is being divided into two speakers at peak volume they'd be receiving ~50watts of power each. If you are a novice to this whole thing, you may want to double check the impedance of your amplifier and the impedance of the speakers. This is a value measured in ohms. It is best practice to have this paired; to avoid serious damage to components with certain mismatches between gear and poor use of the power in other mismatches. You can wire speakers in series or parallel and each have their own formula to determine the collective impedance of the two speakers. For instance two 4 ohm speakers wired in series would be 8ohms because we add the impedance rating of each speaker. The same speakers wired in parallel would be 2ohms, we take the two speaker impedance ratings when added together(8ohms) and divide that by the number of speakers we have(2). Hope this helps! If I was overkill with knowledge you were already aware of I apologize, just want to make sure if you decide to go through with a project like this you can see it through to the end!
oh man, I'm doing spekaers for 20 years and can you sime advise. Make new cab. But first where are the reinforcing beams? Back and front should be glued not mounted by screws in bass soeaker there is much more presure than in guitarcsoeaker. Speakers should nit be connected in series.
there are no plans, but I can give you the overall dimension : width*height*depth : 560*600*435mm. 18mm thick plywood. You can make the other pieces accordingly. Cheers
Flawless workmanship, but I cringed when you installed a 1/4" jack. 1/4" plug is for signal input, not for power output . Neutrik jacks and plugs are now the industry standard, although heavy duty banana pugs will work fine.
Jeffrey Zaiser You’re quite confused. First of all, 1/4 jacks are used by every bass/guitar amp and cab brands. The other option is speakon, both of them can be found on many cabs, they’re the same thing just different looking. Secondly, alternated current doesn’t require anything special, you could run cabs with RCA connectors too if you really wanted to. Banana plugs are for HiFi speakers, they’re not anywhere near durable nor secure enough to be used in a pro application. Also, aren’t Neutrik 1/4 jacks just like every other 1/4 jack?
@@ilpatongi Exactly right Jezzer! All my bands equipment uses 1/4" jacks as standard. Infact I have never played anywhere that uses anything other than 1/4" jacks and XLR's on the in house PA systems. Same with all the kit used by all the bands I know.
So, sound engineering has gotten to the point high end cab makers design specs and baffles within the cab to intentionally tune the cab how they want. Just a box with random ports is going to lose some of the energy those speakers are generating. Your workmanship is fantastic, I would recommend reverse engineering the dimensions, internal baffles and porting of a cab design you like next time. You will get much better results.
incredible crasftmanship. this is more "hand made" than "DIY"

I wanna build a smaller can that fits one fifteen inch speaker and 2 10s covered in truck bedliner
Thanks for sharing the work and taking the effort and time to record it! Very inspiring, thanks. 👍
This is beautiful! For sure it'll sound unique comparing to anything else!
WOW!!! Just wow! Loved watching your work so much! Thanks. Oh, and it sounded sooooo GOOD!

Awesome! I would've probably added some bracing and a speakon connector instead of 1/4 in. (also would've put the jack on the backside)

What did you use in wrapping the speaker box?
How excellent my brother and the unbeatable technique. 1 because at 16 ohms. 2 the measurements?
Very nice work!👍🏻👍🏻 Do you have a building plan?
the craftmanship is very good, but what about speakers and the whole project?
Nice job! Instead of soldering the quick-connects to the internal wiring, I would have simply soldered the wiring directly to the speakers.

What are the speakers brand are they for bass guitar speakers or a normal speaker use for PA ?
Any measurements? Freq response graph or any other specs?
Needs more Polly fill
i wonder the name of the part that at the back of the cab connecting to the amp, anyone know?
Nice build, series wired?
Im planning to DIY my amp cab using 2x12 Eminence Kappa Pro 12'. Di we need a tweeter. Can u suggest one
Which eminence dou you use it?
This ;looks really tidy, nice job. How did you calculate the cab size and the ports to boost your chosen frequencies?
Kenny Nicholson google 'speaker port calculator'...
Hi there. I have questions... I wanna make a cabinet like that. Can i use with processor? I think i can use processor as an head amp. Is that bass speakers or full range? Thx.
Thinking about doing something similar and I want to know how did you measure for the holes you cut for the subwoofers
I checked the data sheet of the speakers
Simply put... that's a pro build. Have you tried the cab with just one port? Curious to know how it will sound...
Thanks. No I didn't try
Good job! Tell me, what kind of glue was applied - spray, and applied with a brush for tolex? Thank you in advance.
Thanks. They both were Neoprene glue, one in a spray can, and the other one in a pot. Both from the brand "Sader"
Do you mind sharing the tools you used bro?!
Pretty sure I heard I Sat By The Ocean in there at 10:20.
good ear ;)
magnifique ! Super boulot, par contre as-tu reculé suffisamment la face avec les hp pour ne pas être gêné avec la grille ?
oui j'avais bien pris ça en compte :)
Hey sweet build brother! Where did you find all of those parts?
thanks ! bought them
How would you incorporate a horn if you chose to install one?
Tarleton Smith A part from the cutout you’d need a crossover
Would having 2 100watt speakers in one cab work through a 100watt amp? Really need help!

Great work! Were you happy with the sound of it? I've been tossing around the idea of a similar build.
Thanks, yeah pretty happy. Still using it to this day with my band
The porous sound absorber inside does not improve the performance of the cabinet in any way. Its job is to absorb 6-8 kHz vibrations.
Did You use birch plywood?
Got this plywood for free, no idea what it's made of. But I don't think it's birch sadly.

How many watts of the speaker that you used?
Erik Ramos the speaker used are in the description. They're 500w each
At 3:12 he starts listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks 🐿

From what I could tell, there wasn't actually any amplification inside the cabinet. What is your solution for that?
It's a bass cab, I have a bass head (amplifier) on the side
Who else skipped the carpentry part because they thought they could do it without any help only to realise lateron that its actually not that easy?
This was almost too good of a build.. if there's such a thing
