My NEW 28 Gauge Shotgun BROKE! (SBE3) | Duck Hunting on a Mudflat

- Matt and Bryce are out on a mudflat to do some duck hunting. They are covered in ducks first thing and are witness to an amazing show as teal swoop in from all directions. One never knows what to expect duck hunting and that was especially true of this day, as Matt's new Benelli SBE3 28 gauge broke! Despite the misfortune, it was still a good day of duck hunting.

That sucks about your new gun, I still have the same Remington 1100 auto my dad bought me when I was 15. new failed, always worked flawlessly. Keep up the great vids!
Thanks! Definitely don't make things like they used to. Never had an issue with my old 870.
WOW! Hope that you were able to send it back, and the Company gave ya a new barrel! That is CRAZY it happened with it being that new.😳 Have a WONDERFUL day, and God Bless all!!!!👍🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Myron! Still waiting for it to get fixed unfortunately
@@HighPrairieSportsmen 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤗🙏
Was a bummer on the gun Matt, but so cool you recorded those teal foraging! Barry
Appreciate it Barry!
I have seen a few people in clay shooting have problems with carbon fiber ribs on their shotguns so I can only imagine that something has to give when your shooting Magnum duck loads through a shotgun with a carbon-fiber rib. Love your videos keep it up and I can't wait for more content.👍
Thanks! Yeah, not a big fan of the carbon fiber in hindsight
I’ve got the exact same gun. Black sbe3 28 gauge. From the get go I was nervous about that dumb carbon fiber rib. They should have just welded a metal rib on there like the 12 ga.
Agreed!
The reason I have read as to why they chose the CF rib instead of a traditional steel rib is weight. Apparently they were concerned that the additional weight would retard the inertial forces on lower velocity loads and decrease reliability.
This is understandable, but then they also elected to use a smaller gauge spring wire for the action spring as well, to improve reliability with low power loads and extraction when dirty. Seems like a combo bound for cycling issues in the long run, which is why at 650 rounds I cut down a 12ga Benelli OEM action spring and replaced the action spring in my 28 it with that. The factory original was getting a little slow on the return to battery and the fresh, larger gauge spring fixed that.
Meant to say NEVER failed, and Im 66 yrs old and still droppin the waterfowl!!
I'm right behind you. Bought an 870 in 1972, still have it and still use it, and my first 1100 in 1979, and still have and use it. Neither of them had a vent rib, so no issues there ;-)
Nice!
I saw that rib come off I was sitting there AAAAAHHH! 😂they don’t make anything like they used to
Ain't that the truth!
Great hunt, yet again, Matt! Really makes me miss and look forward to this September.
Man, that just stinks that the rib on your SBE 3 28ga busted like that. No excuse for a $1700 shotgun to have that happen. You seem to always take care of your equipment, so I doubt it was in any way in part your doing.
You had mentioned this happening a while back; did Benelli ever correct it for you or send you a new rib and bead?
If there is one thing I can heavily criticize the SBE 3 28ga on it is the loose fit of that rib. Granted, I have not been gentle with mine and it has been banged around significantly without failure, but its fitment doesn’t inspire confidence.
I hope your example is back in action, as it’s a stellar shotgun otherwise. (Then again, you shoot your Ethos 28ga so dang well you don’t really need that SBE 3 haha!)
Thanks! Benelli sent me a replacement off a 20 gauge of theirs. I had to retrofit it just to get it sit right on the barrel. They said I'd receive an actual replacement when they had them in stock. That was in mid September. Called them again in January and still no actual replacement rib. Frustrating to say the least.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen dang. That is VERY frustrating. You would think that as part of importing any model that company would also import enough spare parts to service at least 1% of the number imported. (If I was the service team manager I would just get you an ethos or SBE 3 rib from a 3rd party vendor if I couldn’t source it through the company).
Is the 20ga rib functional?
@American Arms Channel the guy I talked to said they couldn't even take one off a gun because they didn't have any. It's functional but sits way lower so I decided not to shoot anymore since I was already used to the high rib.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen hmm, I understand that. Best of luck on getting the proper replacement!
Any mushroom hunting or spring garden videos planned this year?
@American Arms Channel thanks! Planning on a few morel vids. All my garden videos are going over on my Prairie Czech Acres channel now.
28 ga must be more powerful than 12. 😂. Good thing the barrel didn’t blow up.
Haha no joke
Video is terrific as always... Didn't see your shotgun break???? Blessings
Thanks Kraig! It's on the cleanup shot on the teal where the rib fell off
Agh... I'll watch again. Did you get it resolved...
@@kraigkaatz6858 Benelli sent me a rib off a 20 gauge that I had to retrofit just to make it stay on the barrel. I'm still waiting on an actual replacement
That's good
It’s the one brand that I just can’t get on board with. I have owned 2 different Benelli shotguns and had issues with both…
I love my Ethos but am frustrated by the SBE3
Did the screw come out? First thing I did with mine was tighten that screw out of the box and no issues other than action not sliding all the way forward sometimes but I’ve seen that with all inertia guns.
No, the screw was still there and secure. The carbon fiber fractured around the screw and enough shots allowed it to pop loose. Bead fell off the day before as well.
I can't believe it...I was just committed to purchasing an SBE3 in 28ga and I happened to see this on my CZcams feed...I will for sure not buy one...breaking and at that price? The algorithm saved me!
Pretty frustrating to say the least
@@HighPrairieSportsmen I can only imagine…I will say better the rib than a barrel malfunction or anything that could damage you . Glad that you’re safe! Thanks for the content!
Hebat kawan,,terus semangat👍👍
👍🏻
I’d like to see a video on that? Did you get the gun fixed ?
Planning on a review video after more use with it. Benelli is finally sending me an actual rib next week.
138 more days!
Sigh
I know lol it gets real bad after turkey season.
Another Benelli broke Surprise Surprise that’s why we call them the click
👍🏻
Mantap kawan,,ikut nyimak salam dari indo 🇮🇩
Thanks!
Damn now you got me worried about buying this gun 🤣🤣
This was the SBE3 28 gauge. Definitely recommend the Ethos over it.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen oh!! That makes me feel better! Thanks for the help today! Keep up the good vids!
Hey man @^%$ happens aint no big deal just gives your gun character
Very true
Dumbest thing Benelli has ever done is went to those carbon fiber ribs. Over priced garbage.
No joke
Does he realize he doesnt have the right choke
He does now
@@HighPrairieSportsmen what choke?
@Austin Evans not sure what he had. Has a Carlson's now
@@HighPrairieSportsmen it’s not supposed to stick out that far. His gun is Benelli Mobil and he had a Benelli crio choke in it
👍🏻
To much shoot I joke
😂
Keep buying them overpriced plastic guns. I have handled and shot the Beretta and Benelli 28. No way I would pay the stupid money they want for them. The only 28 autos I have ever seen that I would and do own are a Remington 1100 and a Franchi 48 AL. Sadly both of those are not made anymore.
👍🏻
C'mon....shooting them on the water?
I prefer to shoot them flying but if someone else wants to shoot them on the water, that's their decision to do so. The end result is the same.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen , nah -- you can, and do, miss the ones flying, the ones sitting still isn't a sport
@@steveortmann9824 never said it was sporting. I've also seen misses on the water.
killing things isn't a sport..... Im a hunter and never once have thought of it as a sport.
