It's a money thing. If Jelly Roll wasn't so big, we would not be hearing this.
for example disney also owns a copyright for the name Jelly Roll but you won't ever hear kurt suing disney, cause that would be stupid, also i'm a PA native my whole life and ive never heard of the wedding group band. also a nice little tidbit, the guy kurt titchenell who has the copyright from 2009-2010 (filed in 2009 and approved in 2010) filed another trademark with the name Jelly Roll Band and filed that copyright on march 24th then sued him a few weeks later. all in all pretty shitty.
edit: also they listed on the trademark that the first usage of jellyroll was in march 9 1980.

We are just now hearing about this after his hugh rise to fame. I don't think anyone could confuse the two. I know someone who goes by nickname of Koolaide, another goes by Korn short for popcorn, I could go on with nicknames, but this is just stupid !

This whole thing sounds more like a jealousy issue to me more than anything.
Here's the reason why. Although "Jelly Roll" and "Jellyroll" reads and sounds the same, the truth is they are not the same.
To full understand means having to also look at some computer code.
Based on Unix and Unix types:
( Let's use the names as files for demonstration reasons )
!. "Jellyroll" and "Jelly Roll" may look like they would be the same file but are actually 2 seperate files. Because where "Jelly Roll" has a space in between Jelly and Roll, Unix reads it as Jelly_Roll.
2. Also based on the above. The fact that the "R" is a capital in "Jelly Roll", also marks as a separate name as well.
Even in web languages and URLs, it is the same. I used Unix to base this on because it has been around longer than Microsoft Windows (which was designed to ignore the differences), which has caused the confusion for most that don't know computers that deep.
I feel that I could go into this even more but my comment is starting to get a bit long. So I'm just going to leave it there but just do a web search on it and you'll be able to find more info.

Frivolous lawsuit. They didn't trademark the name jellyroll until 2010. Jelly Roll started selling tapes in 2003. Besides, as said before, jellyroll is NOT Jelly Roll.

. ...I'd love to shoot my mouth off on this topic, first encountering such a situation back in 1992: Nirvana Vs. Nirvana. A few artist have even dropped names and gone with symbols since that time. We have seen cases where people had a few flyers for their band that played one to 25 or so people and never played again, go off and file a lawsuit and win.... I can only shrug... good on them all.

OK how is there a issue when one is spelled with a space and second one is a world wide country singer the other is a wedding/ceremony band in one state.
If you look up the trademark filings on the us governments website, Kurt Titchenell has 4 copyrights listed for jellyroll one from 2009-2010 which was approved, one from 2005-2006 which was denied and he refiled 4 years ish later, then one from 1985 which was also denied then the most recent one he filed was in march 19th of this year for Jellyroll Band a few short weeks before Kurt Titchenell sued Jelly Roll, the thing I find the funniest is Disney also owns a copyright for Jellyroll just with a mickey mouse head for the the O but I can almost guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that he wouldn't sue disney because no one would be that stupid.

I just googled jellyroll and the country singer popped up. I kept doing it lots of ways. I can see how frustrating and how it could stop the copyrighted jellyroll from work. That’s why they have trademark laws. It’s a law. The country singers management should have worked it out and hopefully still can. Both are fantastic but a law is a law. It should be upheld. No one would take Tom Brady’s trademark away. I dare ya 😂. I won’t even type it. Like I said I love both but no matter how I type it in the county singer comes up.
