Brickvention is Australia’s biggest and, in my opinion, best LEGO convention. This year I recorded a heap of footage and pics to share with everyone who couldn’t make it. But nothing beats seeing these builds in real life, so if you live here I HIGHLY recommend going for yourself.

If people are interested I might do a commentary version of this video and chat about my thoughts and any cool stories from these exhibits. I might do it even if no one is interested :P
One of the best days out ever! Cannot wait until next year. I'm thinking of exhibiting something of my own, maybe a train yard?
I ran into Joshua from Beyond the Brick in between interviews. Awesome channel and awesome blokes.
Special thank you to Brick Bakery for the previous advice on music and where to find it easily without getting a whack from CZcams. Thanks mate!
PS. Something fun after the credits on this one...
No you should definitely do a commentary vid, if not the entire thing just your favs. I would also recommend displaying at a convention, especially if you've not done it before, as it gives a different side of the show.
Definitely do a commentary vid. Thanks for sharing this, so many of the other videos I've watched whizzed by everything so fast that you could not appreciate anything.
ps - what did you shoot this video with??
Thanks I spent even longer admiring them with my own eyes before I filmed anything. I just used an iPhone X for this one, I think it turned out way better than my camcorder actually.
@@BennysBricksBricksBRICKS Depending on your budget and how "pro" you want to go, if you want to start doing more of this type of videos, maybe consider a proper recording kit, eg: A Sony A6400 camera, perhaps an Atomos Ninja V external recorder, a cheap gimbal such as a Zihyun Crane, and an extension pole (Zihyun make an excellent one that can also act as a self-standing monopod) to attach to the gimbal so you can hold it out and get drone-style shots above larger models as well as use the setup for general photography.
In post, you could then add commentary, or take a lapel mic with you and live-comment that way without worrying about surrounding noise so much.
Holy cow!!! What an awesome convention! That train layout years the end with the turn table was absolutely amazing!! I can't even begin to think how much time and care went into all of the detail!!! Thank you for sharing this!
I LOVE TRAINS !!!!!!!!
The building at 7:19 was a really cool concept. It actually would not be that hard to make it in real life, bridging gaps with buildings isn´t really that hard. But it would be one freaking massive building.
Great overview vid! Thanks!
I love the Island Of Sodor Layout. When I saw this last year on CZcams my mind was Blown
There’s some really neat Mocs in there. Thanks for sharing
Quality video, thanks for sharing! Those train layouts are massive. 😳
Thanks for sharing this! This looks like an amazing event!
It was so much fun. I did 2 and a bit laps. Some displays needed more than 2 looks!
Thanks mate for sharing your visit!! I’m in Sydney and being so close to Christmas holidays and Australia Day I cant wangle a trip down.... maybe next year.. I’d love the commentary, your videos are great. It would be fantastic for you to show off some of your own work.
Love the train layout at 3:15 from your preview pic!
Wow the conveyor one blew my mind. Some people are so clever and inventive
1:56 The Star Wars display reminds me of when you built with what you had. Love it!
LoL yes this was me building X Wings in the early 90's before official Star Wars LEGO.
Great Video! and Beautiful place!
Cool displays I like the trains at 3:29
Thank you, that was very enjoyable. Nice pace with enough time to notice detail .
Amazing lego
Good Video
I'm amazed in how many of my builds, on the main train layout, ended up in the video. :)
Probably because they are completely awesome! Can you point out some of your work?
Dark Purple Warehouse, along with the bridge..Ozride Pink loco, along with the stable mates the Yellow, plus Dark Blue and Yellow versions..The long bogie reddish brown container wagons...The Orang RTL in the he Engine Shed next to the purple warehouse..The weird looking railcar on the bridge, The Galloping Goose..The little Yellow shunter circling the inside track, back and forth to the container ship and purple warehouse .The Submarine in the harbour.. Commissioned works, The 3 black/white/blue locos circling the on mainline of the layout, hauling a Iron Ore Hoppers design, created by myself...The design of the 4 wheel reddish brown container wagons...Another build is the drop tower in the Theme park..Created the the underground carpark, and the main entrance at the Racetrack... Then there is builds on Sodor.. The list goes on..
You sir are a marvel talent! This was obviously my favorite display along with Sodor. Were you there? Chances are you saw me dragging my jaw along the floor 🤣
I'm a Brick of all trades, but there are truely amazing talents within the MLTC....I'm one of the three co creators behind Sodor...You captured me once or twice within the video, floating around the layouts...
Cool as. Just waching. This Vid as adding to comments n reply s. Lego on all .2020
Good video, thanks for the share!
Just some construction criticism: you're panning and zooming just a fraction too quick. Maybe consider shooting at 60fps to reduce motion blur or slow your panning pace just a little so we can absorb more of the detail before the camera starts to motion blur (prevents being able to pause the video to look at a given scene longer).
Thanks mate im def a noob when it comes to camera work.
@@BennysBricksBricksBRICKS Just like riding a bike. Once you get into your groove with technique, you'll wonder how you never knew it before. 😄
Nice work. At 7 mins in my daughter and her cousins tribute to summer at the beach (inspired by Rosebud with foreshore camping etc)......not sure how many people spotted the nuddy surf life saver.........
Hehe nice. That's where I grew up (Rye).
Amazing
I helped build the Melbourne layout I'm serious I'm in the MLTC or Melbourne Lego train club
It was amazing!
Awsum man
Where are u guys have lego club place. In city or.
Styler l'exposition!!😁
the display at 4:51 is mine
The great ball contraption? Mate that was easily my favorite display on the day (not counting my weakness - trains).
I stood at it for a good 20 mins, it's a shame I couldn't get a long continuous shot of a ball from start to finish but it was obviously very crowded due to how impressive it was. Some of the techniques you used absolutely blew me away. Everything is awesome!
And nice footage off my dads Hatashi and PT and tangara and others
Oh Luvly bild tell yar dad. On the train s ..
And also the Thomas the tank layout
Man that table at 18:50... AWESOME.
@ 23:23, a real masterpiece.

I'm Rick James Bricks is my favorite shop and a great place to start. You can go online as well as into the awesome store.
Bricklink is the BEST for parts. For current sets (not retired) though you should be able to find them locally and aim for minimum 20% off retail.
What is that music mix playing as background? Thx.
It's from the free CZcams library called "The Emperor's Army"
At 22:36 is my exhibition the ninjago one
It was a good one. I'm a BIG fan of the ninjago theme and there was a few good ninjago exhibits. I actually have walk around footage of yours and some of the other tables nearby but for some reason it filmed in portrait and looked blurry when I imported it into my editing program. Hopefully you're there next year and we can chat about the build!
I really want one of the giant Lloyd brick built big figs that were in the middleish of the room.
Where is it at?
Melbourne, Australia. Every January.
Melbourne dumbo next time take advice from a Australian
@@warragulbogan what on earth are you on about?
Do they put it together there..
A lot of builds get assembled offsite at members homes or wherever and then all put together at the exhibition hall in sections.
