I'm confused. What did the story in the beginning have to do with this? A sister left her husband after saving up her money for years. Is the moral of the story meant to be to not let our wives work to avoid them being self sufficient and leaving us?

@@shahzaibsansi7848 Lage part of the "necessities" are caused by whammes entering the market. The root causes of modern "necessities" are caused by doubling the workforce. Also, when starts Islamically valid "necessities" and when it is haram in modern days also not clear.

You can’t make your wife pay for stuff. It is her money to do what she wants with. And if she gets a divorce it becomes harder for her being a single mom. And women do not get married expecting to get a divorce. Men however love playing the ‘I will divorce you’ card with every fight you have. Now you just threaten the woman and she feels unsafe now and vulnerable so yes, now she might be saving up money to leave you. Or, you are the abusive man who doesn’t know how to treat your wife well, so for safety reasons she plans to leave you.
Honestly, women SHOULD build a safety net just in case. It is very unwise for a woman to put herself in a position where she is forced to stay in a bad or dangerous marriage bcs she has no money.
Now, I am a married woman. In Ramadan my husband asked me to pay for my missed fasts. He has that right at least, but I will tell you right now if it an extreme out off. You now look like a j__k, and now she views you as disgusting and unmanly…selfish and stingy. My advice to men? Don’t ask for her money or for her to pay for anything. It is a turn off, creates cracks in your marriage, and also demasculinizes you. Don’t do it. And if that is a wife who does the cooking and cleaning and child care…she earned her keep. She shouldn’t have to pay bills now while you come home and sit on your butt after work. Taking care of the home is a lot of work…let’s not mention kids. All of that work is unpaid for. She does not get paid. Don’t dare ask her to pay bills now. And if you treat her well, she won’t want to leave you. Be faithful to her and treat her well. @King Sultan brother Ali’s wife does work. Many sisters do work for a plethora of reasons. Mahdi is using an example of a sister who was plotting , I am suspicious if this is real as he has a history of using hyperbole to ram his argument home, that sister is in the minority.

There are several fractions of society that benefit from Muslim women working. Surgeons, architects, science, education, community work , therapists etc..

A man's role is much bigger than his wallet though. A man isn't defined by his job and provision can also be elsewhere.
If she should contribute to the bills depends on what he contribute to the running of the house hold. If they both worked the same number of hours and he also cooked or cleaned then yes. However if she worked and ran the household then no.
Usually there is no 50/50 ladies don’t get trapped. Research shows women work and contribute financially and also still do the majority of child raising and housework. So it’s more 75/25.

I'm not really sure about the 2-income thing. It's mostly a hoax. 2 incomes are mostly required when you're living an extravagant life. It's works fine on a single average income. I disagree there.

Your point is better than Ali's, except the answer should have been that she should never work in the first place, unless absolutely necessary for the well-being of the family, because if she's a responsible caring woman, then she should not take away from the time and attention of the household husband and children as her duty entails. If she's willing to let the children suffer, so easily, then that's a red flag in the first place.

The story of the 60yo man, imo this couldve all been avoided if the marriage was never involved with the government. The reason he lost his house and all his assets is because of governmental involvement.
And if that wouldnt have been the case then either the woman stays with him because she feels like she has no leverage over him to "plot" something against him for her own benefit or she divorces him and he loses a woman while she loses security, protection, financial support etc. And in that case its detrimental for her.
