1. SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER क्या होता है -
SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER एक ऐसा मनोरोग होता है, जिसमें शारीरिक लक्षण आते हैं।
What is somatic symptom disorder?
People with somatic symptom disorder obsess over physical senses and symptoms, such as pain, shortness of breath, or weakness. This condition has been previously called somatoform disorder or somatization disorder. It’s marked by the belief that you have a medical condition even if you haven’t been diagnosed with anything, and despite reassurances from your doctor that you have no health issue responsible for your symptoms.
This can lead to major emotional stress when your doctor and those around you don’t believe that your symptoms are real.
2.SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER में आने वाले मुख्य लक्षण क्या होते हैं ?
SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER में पाए जाने वाले मुख्य लक्षण निम्न हैं :
- सीने में दर्द का होना।
- सीने में भारीपन का होना।
- सिर में दर्द बना रहना।
- सिर में भारीपन का होना।
- पेट मे दर्द होना।
- पेट मे भारीपन का होना।
- कब्जियत या दस्त का बार बार होना।
- चक्कर का बना रहना।
- शरीर का थका हुआ रहना।
- शरीर मे दर्द का बना रहना।
Symptoms
Symptoms of somatic symptom disorder may be:
• Specific sensations, such as pain or shortness of breath, or more general symptoms, such as fatigue or weakness
• Unrelated to any medical cause that can be identified, or related to a medical condition such as cancer or heart disease, but more significant than what's usually expected
• A single symptom, multiple symptoms or varying symptoms
• Mild, moderate or severe
3. SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER क्यों होता है ?
Researchers aren’t sure about the exact cause of somatic symptom disorder. However, it seems to be associated with:
• genetic traits, such as pain sensitivity
• having negative affectivity, a personality trait that involves negative emotions and poor self-image
• difficulty dealing with stress
• decreased emotional awareness, which can make you focus more on physical issues than emotional ones
• learned behaviors, such as getting attention from having an illness or increasing immobility from pain behaviors
4. Patient Behabiour Pattern in Somatic Symptom Disorder :
Patients thoughts, feelings and behaviors can include:
• Constant worry about potential illness
• Viewing normal physical sensations as a sign of severe physical illness
• Fearing that symptoms are serious, even when there is no evidence
• Thinking that physical sensations are threatening or harmful
• Feeling that medical evaluation and treatment have not been adequate
• Fearing that physical activity may cause damage to your body
• Repeatedly checking your body for abnormalities
• Frequent health care visits that don't relieve your concerns or that make them worse
• Being unresponsive to medical treatment or unusually sensitive to medication side effects
• Having a more severe impairment than is usually expected from a medical condition
5. DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA FOR SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER ( DSM-5 ) :
Criteria for diagnosis
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association, emphasizes these points in the diagnosis of somatic symptom disorder:
• You have one or more somatic symptoms - for example, pain or fatigue - that are distressing or cause problems in your daily life
• You have excessive and persistent thoughts about the seriousness of your symptoms, you have a persistently high level of anxiety about your health or symptoms, or you devote too much time and energy to your symptoms or health concerns
• You continue to have symptoms that concern you, typically for more than six months, even though the symptoms may vary
6. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT OF SOMATIC SYMPTOM DISORDER ?
Treatment of Somatic Symptom Disorder consists of :
Psychotherapy ( CBT ) and Medicines.
