- We were in need of a bed and wanted a platform bed. We could only find one in Tegucigalpa and just the platform and headboard was almost $500. I made up the design myself, was a little concern if it had all the support it needed, but turns out it's very strong and works great!
We made this platform frame for about $85 and we're loving it!
Really neat! Good job guys!
Genial idea!!! este fin de semana pondremos manos a la obra replicando esta idea maravillosa !!! ya que vienen visitas y necesitamos otra cama!! Agradecida por compartir tu hermosa y practica cama!!! Saludos desde Chile!!!
Congratulations on your teamwork.
I wish you happiness.
Great team effort, and great bed!! Thanks for sharing. :)
Well done, looks very strong! Thanks for sharing.
that looks great!
wow, nice job!
Nice! great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. I like this, might try it
good relatively simple design. great job!
Cool bed!
I actually used short bolts to attach the header and 4 corner pieces with two little screws each to attach the footer. With the header and footer locked into the spine the rest just floats. I have thought about putting a couple screws through the plywood down into the supports but haven't gotten around to it and it just doesn't really seem necessary.
cannot wait to catch my shin on those corners.. wow
I really like your design. Looks like a Queen size, yes?
If you could make one and ship it to Miami, I'll pay you. Or at least
please sell the plans on how to make it. :)
Wow this is great...
26realmc I cant wait to see your video. I don't think mats going to post any plans but it looks like the end board is done the exact same way as the head board just not as tall.
Thanks. Maybe I'll draw it up sometime!
I was wondering the same thing. I might add a couple of screws from the spine to the attachment at the footboard
I need this!!! So cool!
Thank you for inspiring me.
Looks cool i like the open sides for support, i need something like that.
Oh and you guys look super nice a little too nice i bet yall are swingers or into bdsm and thats cool too! lol nice bed.
Great Job no need for plans you can see how everything works just by looking! Fantastic designed! I would like to know what keeps it from falling apart? did you go in and screw the pieces together later? It just looks like one good kick to the foot board might kill it especially if someone was sitting on the edge. Interested to know or if you had some design secret I missed in the video. I will watch again. Thanks
We haven't caught our shins on the corners... yet!
I love it watched it two times....I 💘 would love to know how you did it....love the slide in locking meg.....great work.....
Guess I missed the build video. Nice bed.
This is cool :)
Bed is so nice... But you are sooooo beautiful couple... God bless you :)
Thank u so much
U saved me hundreds of dollars
Nice!
Thanks for the reply but I doubt I could do it without instructions.
--The shipment from Honduras might be cheaper at the currency exchange rate, lol, who knows..
You're very talented, I think you could make money selling this Design.
All the measurements were based on the matres.
The spine is one piece that everything connects into.
Hi, sorry it's taken a while to reply, but there are no plans. I had a couple notes of what I wanted to go into it and just made it. Good luck!!
What happened to screwing the boards in place? For that matter, Securing the platform to the frame?
Well, shipment would be from Honduras so you probably wouldn't really want to pay that, and sorry but I don't have plans. I just worked out the idea, wrote out some general figures, and went to work. So, if I could do that then so can you!! And, you'll probably come up with something even better!
I really like your idea. Jusy curious to why you guys decided to not put any sides on?
AWESOME
wish we knew how you made the pieces.
My only suggestions would be to use some kind of bolt set up to secure the pieces together more firmly and to use a hole saw to put some holes in the plywood. Most platforms have slats so there is air flow under the mattress. Solid plywood doesn't allow for that. Over time, your night sweat gets into the mattress and can lead to mold inside the mattress without sufficient air flow. This isn't something that happens in one day, but is a concern if you plan to keep the mattress for several years. Other than that, great build!
I sure have...I even owned one once and found it damned uncomfortable. They might have changed some since then and maybe you don't mind one (shrugs). Chocolate vanilla and strawberry.
+Lickmysaltyballsack Yeah, my good mattress protector allowed my sick daughters vomit to go through pretty quick! For her bed we used a plastic type lined one which always stops it in its tracks.
Great job.. when are you going to post plans? How high is the headboard?
ok, thanks but can you confirm the supporting length of pine on each side of the headboard (that supports the top sheet and that outside length of pine that runs from headboard and attaches to footboard) is just a single piece with a slot cut out for the board to fit on top or have you cut that supporting piece in two and placed a separate block lower and between those pieces.Hard to tell from your video but it looks like a separate block holding up that long length. Thanks!
tip that bed room floor when wet by animals or what ever youll slip and flip right out that or go out the glass...
that shinny stuff its dangerous when wet...
the bed is kinda nice but screws would be the way id do it...
I would have spend the extra and put sides, screws, and stained it.
Where did you buy the bed , I reall like it!!!!!
I like your platform bed, I want to recreate it. Can you provide me with detail instructions. Thank you!
Great simple idea for a mattress base!. As far as allowing the mattress to "breathe", which is a very good idea esp. in high humidity areas, simply drill a series of 1" or 2" holes evenly spaced in a pattern in the plywood. I prefer the strength of a plywood base with holes vs. wood slats spaced 3" apart for the ventilation. The holes leave much less imprint on the bottom of the mattress vs the necessary 2" or 3" gap when using slats. Good article and photo of a support base with ventilation holes: www.themattresswarehouse.co.za/ventilation-memory-foam-breathe-mattress/
Omg the first time you guys go to bump uglies that thing is going to fall apart. Then the dude will be sleeping on the couch for a month lol
Mosquito net? You people in Australia?
goosecouple could be a number of places, but they are in Honduras.
Nice!
