The camera features several different modes from auto to manual. If you want to have some control over the picture taking process you could choose the live view option. This would allow you to experiment with exposure compensation, saturation, and white balance. We would also make sure to keep the camera's sensitivity (ISO) as low as possible. This will ensure the best quality. Also, having a support for the camera will prevent image blur from camera shake.

One thing he did not mention was the fact that the battery does not last long it lasts for around 3-4 hours at the most I recommend carrying an extra battery for the camera that way you always have a spare, besides the fact that the battery time does not last that long this camera is great!

Hello Anthony Gatt. Date and time stamp can be turned on by accessing it in your camera's menu. Press the Menu button, choose Date Stamp on the camera tab, and then choose the desired option. Please note that once you add the date stamp it can not be edited.
I love my camera, but when i go to video mode the camera shuts off. i have reset the camera and still it does not work I reformatted the disk and i and having the same problem. should i try a different memory card i don,t know I don,t think that is the problem the camera worked just fine when i first got it. the videos was great. its been about a year maybe it needs a repair. I'm really loving this camera! I'm a novice and it has so far been really easy to use. I am however having a problem with transferring videos via wifi. When I sync the camera with my laptop, all of the images go automatically and I can find them with ease, but none of the videos make it that far and I can't figure out why. I'd like to avoid having to buy an adapter for direct transfer from the card to my laptop, especially since the wifi makes it so convenient. Any suggestions?
Hi, you should try different shutter speeds, starting at 1/250 and going up to 1/25, then use an ISO of 200 or 100 if possible, also, a great help would be a tripod.

I bought the SX530 about 6 months ago. I wanted it mainly for shooting action sports. So far I've been disappointed as many of my photos have turned out blurry. It appears that a camera needs to have a 2.8 lens to really freeze a moving target while the SX530 only goes down to 3.4. (doh!) There is also the problem of focus when the lens is fully extended. It seems to take over 6 seconds to focus in on a subject, and then it has a problem holding that focus. On a positive note, the 50x zoom is really its best feature. When fully extended the lens can get you quite close to a subject that is fsr away. The video I've shot with this camera has been okay, but I didn't buy it for that purpose.

i just got this for xmas and im not to thrilled about it. cant take panoramic pictures for 1, second no time lapse and lastly no simple settings this model was released in early 2015 making this a 4 year old camera doesnt come with any usb cord or hdmi cord which would be helpful for people like myself i rather just plug the hdmi or usb in to my laptop rather than going through all that password stuff and such. you would think they would make it simple to use actually pretty complicated like a blind date at a movie theater.

I'm a content creator on youtube, i usually record for 30-60 minutes. With canon powershot sx540 HS i can only record 16-20 minutes and i have 64GB of kingston sd card. Is there a certain limit in capturing a video so it does not infringe the camcorder companies?
Hi, you are correct, there is a time limit for videos and no camera can shoot more than 29 mins and 59 seconds, the camcorders would get useless without that time limit for DSLR cameras.
Got this camera for Christmas and I do vlogs. How would you recommend I voice over my pre recorded videos from this camera since it does not come with a mic? And people cannot hear my videos and explanations.
Hello Punit prakhar. Yes you absolutely can. The camera also allows you to switch from AF to manual focus by pressing the left button on the cross keys (MF/macro).

Hi! You should shoot on av mode at all times to work at long zoom and sports, plus you must remember that the shutter has to be at 1/1000 or faster.

Hi Laura, it could be that it is broken, the humidity will not affect it. As for the batteries we suggest you Vivitar or Canon batteries for it.

i just got this for xmas and im not to thrilled about it. cant take panoramic pictures for 1, second no time lapse and lastly no simple settings this model was released in early 2015 making this a 4 year old camera doesnt come with any usb cord or hdmi cord which would be helpful for people like myself i rather just plug the hdmi or usb in to my laptop rather than going through all that password stuff and such. you would think they would make it simple to use actually pretty complicated like a blind date at a movie theater.
Hi, this camera is good for a starter but the lack of many functions makes it outdated today.

I'm new to the photo taking life , I just got one of these canons , so far I love it and this video was extremely helpful.. I'm into racing so I wanted a camera that took good pictures from a zoom and allow me to crop with the pictures staying clear and not pixelated , I almost got a nikon, what's your take on those compared to the canon , I read they are close as far as picture quality but the canon had a faster auto focus witch was perfect for me with the racing pictures I take
I have the same camera, but for some reason it won’t turn on, it’s only a few months old, the battery isn’t old, I didn’t drop it or do anything to it, i have taken very good care of it, and for some reason it won’t turn on, do you have any idea why this is happening? Also I heard there’s also a switch that if you hit it, the camera might not turn on,, what is that switch and where is it?
Hi, your camera probably needs a repair as it is not working and there is no switch like you mentioned, please contact Canon support.

I'm a content creator on youtube, i usually record for 30-60 minutes. With canon powershot sx540 HS i can only record 16-20 minutes and i have 64GB of kingston sd card. Is there a certain limit in capturing a video so it does not infringe the camcorder companies?
Hi, you are correct, there is a time limit for videos and no camera can shoot more than 29 mins and 59 seconds, the camcorders would get useless without that time limit for DSLR cameras.
Got this camera for Christmas and I do vlogs. How would you recommend I voice over my pre recorded videos from this camera since it does not come with a mic? And people cannot hear my videos and explanations.

Hello Punit prakhar. Yes you absolutely can. The camera also allows you to switch from AF to manual focus by pressing the left button on the cross keys (MF/macro).
