    When I did mine I kept the body red with the Flames but I detailed everything and change the rims I put M2 rims on it. And I kept the Chrome Grille casing but painted the inside of the grill black. Nice job on yours I like the blue.

    Wow! Inspiring! I haven’t got to the drill the rivet stage yet, so I kept the original paint, flames, and wheels. I gave the scoop the black hole treatment as well as the ends of the exhaust. I went with a black radiator, leaving the chrome covering. I also painted the blower belt black, which I think is a great detail. Oh, and I highlighted the cowel vent black, which sets it off with the orange paint. I also tried outlining the doors and trunk lid in black, but I don’t like it. I tried yellow marker to define headlights but that didn’t add much. I am learning a lot and have been turned on to a great hobby because of your (and other’s) videos. Thanks!

    I use a jewelers file to open up the axle slots, that way the new axles stay level and the wheels aren't unevenly set. The last one I finished was a Mini Cooper (the older casting with the removable body). If I use wheels with axle heads, such as TH wheels, I use the flat end of a tiny drill bit, and apply a dot of red paint to the ends of the axle heads, it creates a nice little detail from something that's already there, and looks pretty good. I might try making a custom from the car in the video, maybe just do a blackwash on the bare metal and a little browning effect on some of the chrome, like a rat rod, but a little less ratty. 😄

    I loved the blue colour it matches the style with the wheels and the accents it kinda has the feel of a nascar

  • @eangdaniec8515
    @eangdaniec8515 Před 6 lety +3

    That is so awesome. You asked in the description how we would do things differently, I would make mine an east coast body and channel the frame, putting the body over the frame, thus lowering the blue body piece.

    • @LucasDad
      @LucasDad  Před 6 lety +1

      I like it...I like it. Getting a dremel this week. I'm going to try it

    • @eangdaniec8515
      @eangdaniec8515 Před 6 lety +2

      If I might add in, I have the same car, and I was planning to start off the same way as you. Luckily, I have my own aluminum rivets, so they might work for putting back together. Naturally, the body is already wider than the frame except for the back fender, so all I have to do is sand down the rear area of both, and the rivet connectors on the body (metal body piece) and the chrome plastic body piece in the back, otherwise that will hit the rear hood and not allow the body to slide down. Next, unfortunately the hood scope won't budge if I were to slide down the body, so I may have to cut the hood scope off or something similar. Next step is to either find a wider axle for the rear, and the front so it matches in width, or sand down the wheel well in the back. For extra touch my friend is currently housing a 32 in his garage so I'll drill small holes in the firewall of the Hot Wheel as to where it would be in real life, and perhaps paint that. I almost can't wait to see how you do yours!

    If your not into the shiny chrome look like myself, one could hit the shiny chrome with a black wash to shine it down a tad. Take the radiator grille for instance.
