I have been using a MacBook Pro for past 3 years for my office. I switched to a Lenovo chromebook Flex for a month last year. *Outcome* - I want to throw my INR 2.5 lakh macbook and switch to Chromebook for life. So lite, so easy, so free, bends anyways you want.
Also I realised in this day and age, unless you are a working profession who needs a very specific software like AutoCad, Lightroom, FInal cut pro ex. Absolutely everything is and can be done on cloud and is actually being done as we mostly spend our time on chrome only.
    Mail - Gmail/Outlook
    PPT - Google Slides
    Excel - Google Sheets
    Word - Google Docs
Think about it . You dont need anything else, do you? While apt for students, I think this makes more sense for business professionale, people who arent coding but Managers or B/C folks who travel and use laptops to browse, makes slide decks, read and consume entertainment.

I love my Chromebook. I heard so many people criticise them but I deduced they were just looking for more than a Chromebook is really designed to do. 99% of what I do online is easily done on my Chromebook (which I am using right now). I watch films and stream on YT/Netflix, email and chat to people, read the news and do my weekly grocery shopping. It does this easily and the battery lasts for hours and hours. I bought this in 2021 and within a few weeks it became my main laptop and the one I am most likely to grab if I have something to do. The only time I use either my MacBook Pro or ASUS Ultrabook is if I am writing/composing music or editing videos. Otherwise I find the Chromebook more enjoyable to use and much more comfortable to type on.

But they give some solid hardware and good end user experience. I've used max pro m1 and it was such a great phone. I regret exchanging it now. Should have kept it as a secondary or something.

Why aren't any brand putting a smartphone soc into a chromebook. That would make these lighter, you won't need a fan to cool the processor, and the battery life can improve too.
If those brand are producing an android phone that would mean all those R&D can be cut in half.
Imagine a mi chromebook sharing its parts with the mi 10i smartphone .
