Tbh I really like this movie more than the 1st one. Even I felt the lag but I've never read the books. But this definitely should've been a series or at least 3 part movie because more characters and stories could've been explored.

If people are expecting mass scenes just because they look good, especially in a political drama like ponniyin selvan, then i guess those people are missing the whole point of ponniyin selvan. Its sad that such a nuanced storytelling by maniratnam has been dismissed so easily because they cannot tolerate a simple fact like a poonal, which by the way, wasn't worn just by 'iyers'. Kalki himself being an 'iyer' used a lot of non-tamil vocabulary in the original PS, but i guess people pick and choose what to hate. Truly sad to see where we have come.
