  • Using an MK5 Hill hand pump - which claims capability up to 4500 psi.
    I've only pumped to a max pressure of 4350 psi (that's the max pressure for the Air Venturi Avenger .25 cal).
    This time I only pumped to just over 4000 psi... to keep the video shorter.

It’s a subtle feeling in your chest that maybe a gulp or two of water won’t take care of. Do not talk to your doctor but write them. When words are put down then they react with speed. This insured and kicked off test after test then a stent. The widow maker was blocked 100% but my heart grew additional arteries to restore the flow. Yes Virginia this is the body trying to survive. Another was blocked at 95% and opened to 100% flow. The kicker here is my ejection rate was 69% before the procedure which can indicate no tissue damage occurred and/or was replaces by scar tissue. The old pump was going to give me all it had till it stopped dead. I am so very fortunate that my pump is still pumping so I can, with plenty of caution, pump my airgun pump. If I can add one more bit of body trying to tell you something. This is my feeling not backed by science and not playing doctor. Think about it, when your heart is screaming at you to pay attention, it also at the same time it is screaming at your blood supply to repair the damaged area. It does this by increasing the inflammation in the area that needs attention. The body the blood then brings all the building material that is needed to repair the damage in that area. Unfortunately the whole body gets the inflammatory response. And so other areas of your body that need a little help well, they get a lot of help. And in cases like minor back pain, that pain will increase because the swelling in that area will increase because of the unneeded inflammatory response. Does that make sense? So when you start getting aches and pains that you didn’t particularly have before or were calls from overexertion. And your white blood cell count rises but there’s no infection and there’s no fever. These should raise alarms. You should question your body as to where the inflammatory response is being called. Listen to you body snd do not ignore the smaller aches and pains that do not result from exercise. You heart maybe talking to you subtly like mine did. As Jesus has said listen to the still voice. It is screaming at you. My back pain is gone! Could this be because of rest? Maybe. Could this be because my overall inflammatory response is less? Maybe.

No issues so far... I really like it. I have not played with the tuning yet. I have to get a chrony first. No sense playing with the tuning, in my view, until I can see how the speed is affected.
      Someone on Reddit said: "Avenger has one huge advantage over the Gauntlet, adjustability. Gauntlet doesnt have adjustable hammer spring tension and you have to disassemble the reg to adjust pressure. Both are in the "needs polishing" price range, both are pretty darn accurate."

    So to consistently fill my gun air reservoir at the ideal psi, my tank must always be at the psi?
    Example: I want my gun consistently at 2900 psi, my tank cannot be lower in psi, to fill my expected psi?

    • @mik1705
      @mik1705  Před 3 lety +1

      If you want to be sure to always get exactly 2900 psi... then, Yes... you could keep your reservoir at 2900 psi. This would mean, that after every shot, you would have to pump the reservoir back up to exactly 2900 psi. Course the gauges accuracy might not be that good... so you'd still have some variability.
      But, the .25 cal Avenger is "Regulated" as you likely are aware. This means that as long as your reservoir pressure is greater than 2900 psi (assuming your regulator pressure is set to 2900 psi), you should always get 2900 psi of pressure for every shot until the reservoir pressure drops below 2900 psi.
      However, the regulator gauge likely also has some variability (and mine creeps up from where I have mine set, I have mine set now at ~2000 psi, and it creeps up to 2200 psi so my first shot is faster). So, regulator likely has some variability as well. For a $300 air rifle the gauges (reservoir and regulator) are likely not the most precise.

    • @mik1705
      @mik1705  Před 3 lety +1

      Yup, that's a big question I think for most people and also a barrier to entry for a lot of people considering getting in to PCP airguns. Of course, the "right answer" as is usually the case, is - it depends.
      It depends if the person buying the pump can physically actually operate the pump up to whatever pressure their specific rifle requires for starters. If not, they should go with an electric pump.
      Then, how much do they shoot, and are they going to be ok pumping up the gun 6-10 mins each time, 3x per day if they shoot that much (I get 25-30 shots each time with my .25 cal, then I have to pump again.).
      I bought the MK5 Hill Pump from Pyramid Air, and added on the optional dry pac system... although I think it was Steve Shalley from the AEAC channel that said these modern airguns are designed to handle a little moisture (you get some moisture with high pressure air - that's just how it is). So, it may not be necessary to pay the extra money for the dry pac add-on.
      I like the MK5 Hill pump, and don't mind pumping up the gun with it. But, I'm not shooting a ton right now... as it is pretty cold now. And, I don't shoot competition. If you shoot a lot, you might need an electric portable pump and/or a carbon fiber bottle you can fill up to 4500 psi, but those are ~$600 too).

Top pressure in the .25 cal Avenger is 4350 psi... so quite a bit more than some. Other PCP's have lower max pressures so 3000 psi would be good for many.

    On average, how many shots do you get out of a "typical" charge?

    • @mik1705
      @mik1705  Před rokem

      I couldn't recall for sure... so I just went out and shot a quick series:
      I have a .25 cal Avenger.
      I'm using .25 cal JSB Exact King Heavy pellets (33.95 gr).
      I started with approximately 4050 to 4100 psi in the reservoir (I typically don't pump it all the way up to 300 bar (~4350 psi)).
      I have my regulator pressure set to ~2400 psi.
      I shot 24 shots and the reservoir pressure was still above the regulator pressure, so I shot 8 more, for a total of 32 shots.
      Reservoir pressure was now down to 2400 psi, same as the regulator pressure. So I stopped.
      I got 32 good full power shots.
      I'm sure I could have shot another 8 shots with decent power but since this was a quick experiment I didn't have my chrony with me so I didn't... as I wouldn't have any idea how good the shots were (how fast they were going). I had tuned my Avenger previously to shoot these 33.95 grs at around 860 fps.

    • @mik1705

      I think you could still get the Air Venturi Avenger... I got the .25 cal, but could likely get 25 good shots if I "only" pumped it up to 3500 psi. When I dropped my reg pressure down to 1800 psi, I got 40 "good shots" if you saw my other video. And... if you were willing to go with the .22 cal Avenger (instead of the .25 cal), you could get even more shots with the .22 cal, if you set your regulator to 1800 psi and pumped it up to 3500 psi. You could probably get 40 or 50 shots. Look at AEAC channel at 5:55 into the video czcams.com/video/oUpBxCbi5o8/video.html where Steve did a few different tunes for the .22 cal. He got 115 shots out of the .22 cal with the regulator turned down even more, to 1400 psi (he calls it the eco tune - this is for the .22 cal, probably can't turn the .25 cal regulator down that low... I have mine at 1800 psi as I said). You should be able to get a good idea how many shots you could get if you pumped it up to 3500 psi.

      I was doing another experiment so I figured... why not just pump it up to 3500 psi and see how many shots I can get... see the link to the video above. Note: as mentioned, I tuned my regulator pressure down to 1800 psi (down from the factory setting of 2900 psi for the .25 cal) I got at least 24 good shots and maybe as many as 28 (I wasn't watching the reservoir pressure between those last shots so I got down below the regulator pressure of 1800 psi - I got down to ~1450 psi but it was still shooting fine). I shot 32 shots total, and while the last few may have been unregulated shots (likely the reservoir pressure was below the regulator pressure of 1800 psi) - they still felt good and shot just fine.
