    The es is the best sound engine of all the motif models. I’ve owned and compared them all through in ear monitors, studio monitors, and live. The moxf is close enough especially when you factor in weight ect.

    I just want to add that a old guy with a weak lower back (like me im 65 yrs old) GRATEFULLY prefers the much lighter weighted MOXF irregardless of the much heavier ES having slightly enhanced sounds. There isnt really all that much of a noticeable difference. Also i personally adjust my approach on how heavy or light i strike the keys from one keyboard to another It does usually matter. Price matters for some too....Lol.

      Hahah, I also appreciate the light weight of the MOXF. Thank you for your comment. I added a comment in the thread about why I decided to record the comparison. A friend of mine gave me his ES temporarily. I understand that price matters a looooot Lol

    Thank you for this comparison video, Raul y Nancy Musica. It demonstrates beautifully the similarities and differences between the XF and ES. Liked and subscribed. Also, I always thought that the ES sounded warmer and fatter than the later versions of the Motif, and this and your other 2 videos seems to support my perceptions.

      I have kept my Motif ES6 around after I bought it new in 2004, and although I usually don't play it anymore since I play a Korg Kronos in my band, I recently brought it in from the garage and was pleasantly surprised at how good it still sounds! 🤜🤛 Liked and subscribed.

    Exactly the same samples but with an enhancement on the ES and some EQ or filters for having a better render

    • @raulynancymusica
      @raulynancymusica  Před 7 měsíci

      Yep, with some tweaking it gets closer to the brightness and warmness of the ES. I also noticed there are some patches that have less layers and react differently. I think for some people it doesn't matter that much. Some patches are exactly the same. But there's one where I notice a big difference, check the GM006 for example here czcams.com/video/sgp0efaqYZE/video.htmlsi=c9ncaDE_EN6mpEM0&t=359

    It’s a useless comparison to compare exactly the same sounds. Because the sound engines and their applied effects are exactly the same i.e. XF is an improved model of ES. the differences are between their features like realtime controlling knobs, capacity of their memories (and of course the number of sounds especially natural sounds), filters, effects and the most important parts are the sampling system, firewire utility and ability to save the loaded sounds after any restart mode.

    • @raulynancymusica
      @raulynancymusica  Před 7 měsíci +6

      Thank you for your comment, I hope you can be ok with disagreement. I don't think it's useless otherwise I wouldn't have waisted my time making it even in three parts.
      The point of the video is essentially to show those small differences and nuances between the same patches and the response from the keybeds and the two engines. The story behind scenes is: there's a huge debate in Motifator.com about this fact since years ago and there are lot of opinionated fellows arguing and so. This is what motivated me to make the videos.
      It is important for us producers who have played on big events and in the studio to notice those nuances because when it sounds better you feel the music and get inspired.
      A friend of mine lent me his Motif ES for some weeks, I took advantage and recorded the videos for helping us who cannot afford to have all these dream keyboards. The ES sounds a hundred times better than my beloved MOXF on PAs and in the studio.
      The MOXF at some point produces harmonic distortion at high levels which it doesn't happen easily with the ES. While I still love jamming with my MOXF because my back appreaciates its light weights, for serious projects I'd rather play the ES.
      Watch the three videos, there are some comments that I added to tell the difference in feeling and response from the engine. The flute for example reacts differently on the MOXF and the experience is way better on the ES (vid 2/3) Or check the GM006 for example here czcams.com/video/sgp0efaqYZE/video.htmlsi=c9ncaDE_EN6mpEM0&t=359 such a big difference.
      If possible listen on studio monitors or Hi fidelity gear, you'll notice for example the reverb tail from the ES is longer than the MOXF's and such things.
      Thank you for visiting our channel, greetings!

      @alfy2651 Před 7 měsíci +3

      Thanks a lot for the time you spent to reply my comment. Why shouldn't I be ok with a polite and justifiable disagreement of which makes my knowledge improved?
      As you mentioned it is obvious if you finds out difference between the nuances (one is natural hammer action and the other is semi-weighted). if you had tried Motif es6 vs MOXF6 undoubtedly you wouldn't have done a flawless comparison because of their different keybeds. Do you believe the nuance of Korg Triton Studio 88 has a bit difference with Korg Triton Studio 61? I tested them.
      Let me give you 2 tips that probably help you reach a better result in your future comparison:
      1- You may use a similar midi controller to have a similare keybed for comparing the nuances.
      2- Turn off all the effects and filters for both under testing keyboards.
      Probably these will make your job a bit harder but you'll make a better validated comparison.
      once again thank you for your attention and reply.

      @@alfy2651 Thank you for the extensive response too. LOL
      I see you also enjoy keyboards, sounds and such!
      Thank you for the suggestions, I wish I had at least a MOTIF ES 6 or 7 when I recorded the videos, that's why in the videos I switched Keybeds and engines and added some comments about the feeling and response. Months after, another friend lent me his MOTIF ES 7 and at least I could record this one:
      czcams.com/video/iqTZou9HeDg/video.html
      I wisht the MOXF6 had the same keybed like the ES7, but I know that's why it's cheaper.
      I'd be happing making a comparison between the two KORG boards you mentioned but I don't have access to those currently. Who knows if in the future I could borrow them!
      I like KORG boards as well, I recorded 3 videos of a SV2 and I really like how punchy, clear and warm it sounds. It doesn't have that many sounds compared to the MOXF6 but the piano sounds are superior.
      In case you want to check them out:

      and my plans are to review the electric pianos of the SV2 like I did with the acoustic ones. I mean Rhodes MK1, MK2 and MK5 and their variations, but it takes a long time, been busy making some backing tracks for my clients. But I'll work on that in the future. Any suggestion about this is quite welcome!

      @@raulynancymusica Thank you Raul for your comments and explanation.
      I would like to say something on KORG keybeds issue. I would say the most amazing in touch, reliability and weight Keybeds that has been used on workstations ever and unfortunately has been discontinued, is RH2. I have used both RH3 on M3 and RH2 on Triton Studio. Forget RH3!
      Moreover I'm very sad that the key action with flat-spring mechanism has been discontinued from 61 and 73 high-end keyboards and of course ES (the one that you tested) is the latest series of this key action technology.
