BMW M235i chasing the M3 Ring Taxi - Nürburgring Nordschleife - External Mic - Decat Exhaust

- I got carried away during my warm-up lap when the M3 ring taxi overtook me after a yellow flag in Hatzenbach. Unfortunately, the Golf GTI got us seperated around Hohe Acht. The car was suffering from some misfires due to the generic JB4 map and severely bend front brake rotors.
The car has got KW Clubsport 2-ways, lightweight APEX ARC8 wheels with 245 wide front and 265 wide rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4's, PAGID RSL brake pads, M Performance 370mm rotor upgrade, JB4 module on stage 2 generic map (decat pipe), combined with a full Remus catback exhaust and CSF big intercooler, resulting in +-390HP. Recorded with a Sony action cam with an Olympus external microphone located at rear battery.
Perfect mic positioning. Good sound, no buffeting.
N55 strong and sounds great
Thinking of getting the 240i, how do you like it on track? I'm coming from an E46 M3...
That will strongly depend on what you're planning on doing with the car, where you're going to use it most.
The M-lites don't have the proper M car steering feel & handling. But is it bad? No, definitely not in my opinion.
I just put KW clubsports on and it made a world of difference. This is a mod you'd be doing anyway to any car you
want to take on a race track. You're always going to need stiffer springs and camber adjustability.
N55 engine will blow away the M3 E46 on straight line performance for sure. No comparison. A B58 even more...even with a charger on the E46...
If I'd be in your shoes and having the budget for an M240i, I'd go for a nearly new M2. Good luck!
@@Quaddriver2would you suggest the E90 (n55) or the M235i ? I want a daily but track car as well, it’ll be a dedicated track car eventually currently using my Honda EK hatchback as my beginner track car but I know I’ll grow out of it and seek more competitive divisions I thought about the F30 335i but I heard the steering feels worse than the 235i and I use to own a E90 328xi I understand the steering feel but not too much on the f30 or 235i yet
@@VanguardxGaming I never drove an F30 so I can't comment on that platform. I'm befriended with someone who drove the E90 for 350k kms and was very content with this platform's capacity on track! Did they make them with N55 or only N54's? I would still recommend getting a used (40k kms max) regular M2 with DCT if eventually it'll be a track machine and if you don't need the 4 doors.

I know it's about personal taste, but you shouldn't dial in so much rebound damping. Even in the video it's clearly visible, that the tires struggle with grip as soon as weight changes or bumps deflecting the weels. You rub your tires away in a few lap with this setup. You are driving smooth enough to benefit from a more agile car with more compression and less rebound damping.

You would have had him with a limited slip differential. The M3 is only coming out of corners quicker.

Guillaume D yes the sound is amazing. Much better than S55 engine. The BMW replaced the GT86 yes. Pretty much the same principle but double the horsepower.

Is 245 and 265 rear possible without touching the car wings? 18 or 19 inch?
It will strongly depend on your offset of your wheels. I know that without the negative camber in the front, the tires were scraping the arches. In the rear, it wasn't the outside arch being scraped, but it was the inside of the arch that was being scraped under heavy load. Especially in the Karussel style corners. I'd recommend putting a 255 instead of a 265. I had 18" APEX ARC-8 wheels.

The intake sound is lovely is the intake modified?
The noise you hear is exhaust only. Microphone was located above the muffler. But yes, intake is slightly modified. K&N panel filter and cut out some holes of the airbox (just like the performance version)
It sounds superb anyhow, I might have mistaken the "surge" sound for intake. Hope you do more videos like it! Maybe one withe interior sound, would be interesting? / Dave @@Quaddriver2
@@davidjohansson1416 Chdck out the other videos on my channel. The latest one with 8.05 BTG is with cabin sound only. Unfortunately no more videos will be uploaded of the M235i as I sold the car. Driving Megane RS now on the ring.

What was causing the misfires?
I'm blaming the generic map from the JB4. The car should always be properly remapped, which I didn't get to.
