    Loved this. I actually had an old Toyota Motorhome that I really enjoyed. I went all over in it. It was so trustworthy. I did end up having some leaks one winter when we had tons of snow (I lived in Big Bear CA). I eventually sold it and purchased a Minni Winni which was pretty awesome. I'm currently in a Tinyhouse in a senior community (not my style) and pt in my Ford Econoline conversion and love her. Thanks for sharing.

      I'm retired and live in an '84 mini motorhome like this. I agree that it is comfortable living this way without the huge monthly expenses of regular housing. There's more work involved- filling tanks, filtering drinking water, monitoring the propane tank, struggling with mobile phone and internet signals, keeping batteries charged, but there's a great feeling to being completely self-reliant and independent in your cozy mobile home, especially when you are in a remote wilderness area. I really wish you the best adventures in the mobile rig that you find- it's worth the effort.

    zip lock poop method. if you have a van without a bathroom and your a guy (or maybe it would work for a girl if your careful) you can simply squat poop in a normal plastic grocery or small trash bag, while collecting urine in a separate container. ( like a wide mouth Gatorade jug) . The trick here is just say it is the middle of the night and you do not want to go outside to through out your poop bag, you then put the plastic grocery bag with poop into a ziplock bag (quart size is usually good) and seal it. Once sealed it will not smell and you can throw it in your trash can inside your van and then dump it in an outside trash bin the next day or a few days later with all your other trash. So no need for expensive toilets if you do not have space for them.

  • @joakimhjelm-svennesen8984

    What a nice rv for a 40 plus year vehicle. It actually looks pretty maintained by you and previous owners. Only downside is probably speed going straight and definitely going upwards. And the fuel consumption. Yet you say it’s pretty fuel efficient (but probably not by today’s standard)
    It’s funny you mention wet bath, shower and toilet. Everybody that doesn’t have a toilet in their rig, says it’s just as easy to into public toilets. However I wouldn’t, like you, have to rely on finding public toilets all the time, or in case of emergency have to go into a bucket right in the middle of the rv in the middle of the night or because you got stomach flu or something like that. I actually prefer a real toilet enclosed by walls and a door. IMO you sort of build your travels around to have to be able to have public toilets around you or be far out into the woods to go behind a tree and do your business and then bury your “business”. Of course some people would argue that you also have to empty your black tank, cassette toilet or composting toilet. And that is true, but you also have to fill up on water and gas/petrol. And many places you fill up on water you can also empty your black tank or cassette toilet
    Another funny thing is, I also never heard of rv’ers and van lifers talk about a responsible way of getting rid of trash and residual waste. Here where I live in Copenhagen Denmark, we have a by law recycling bins for cardboard, metal, plastic, paper, glass, consumer electronics and residual waste, that doesn’t belong in of of the mentioned bins. We also have biological waste bins for biodegradable things like uneaten foods and other things that break down biologically. But that is of course easier to have those bins down in the courtyard where people go down from their condos or apartments and sort their trash or if you live in a house. But I can’t see why not campsites, campgrounds and rv parks cannot have those bins too. Then it’s up to people if they want to recycle their trash from the rv

      Even a tiny enclosed bathroom is such a nice, civilized convenience, especially in bad weather or the middle of the night when nobody wants to be looking for a public place. Also, when I have up to 4 guests in my mini motorhome, nobody is going to use a pull-out bucket on the floor.

    • @joakimhjelm-svennesen8984
      @joakimhjelm-svennesen8984 Před rokem

      @@pouglwaw5932 Exactly! That’s what I mean. All of those mentioned “problems” going up in the middle of the night finding a public bathroom or having stomach flu or just REALLY have to use the toilet for number one or two and you’re in the middle of nowhere or even better in the city and can’t go outside doing your business. Or like you mention having friends over and have to use a pull out toilet on the floor. Or going in front of your your girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband. I’d like to have my privacy for going on the toilet with an actual door or rectractable screen door and not some curtain or even worse in the open

    Such a nice old school rig. Wish Toyota still made something like this. Love the smoker's drapes colored shower head and shower pan. Curious if that's the original engine? If so, how many miles are on the engine and what kind of gas mileage do you get? It is kind of hard to listen without being distracted by the unnecessary and overuse of the word "like". It's like difficult to like listen when you like say like so many like times. That being said, your insight, guidance, experiences and advice on living like this are invaluable. Thankyou for sharing. Glad to hear the community stepped in to help with funds for engine related funds. It's always nice to hear that there are still people helping other people in this ever so selfishly growing world we live in. Hoping for healthy, safe and happy travels as you two pursue this lifestyle. Thanks again for the segment.

    Mark 1.15
