Itesodadae we're gonna be talking about Hugs and how he is the biggest joke in melee community. He has repeated made a fool of himself on several occasions, and it has become harmful to the community considering that it often occurs at the expense of others. So today we will be going over why Hugs is an idiot.

Like I said, it’s silly to think there’s a significant correlation between video games and misogyny, unless you think misogyny wasn’t around before the Atari was released. Men being attracted to women will naturally bleed into many aspects of life, both the proper and the improper. The source comes from human nature, not mods.
Literally no one is hurt at all with a mod to make a digital female character (literally an object) more appealing in the chest region to those who wish to install it on their own systems.

It's fine if HugS doesn't like Nintendo (hell a vast majority of the community and Twitter don't) but I don't like how much he tries to enforce his own belief onto others. HugS just...rubs me the wrong way even after the apology, I can't explain it but I'm so soured by the Smash Community already regardless.
The current culture's preoccupation with politics is unfortunately influencing and dividing the smash community and distracting the people from what really matters in this environment, our shared love and apreciation for melee.

Not gonna lie, never even payed much attention to Hugs, i just knew he really disliked Smash 4 and their competitive scene but when the video reaction of Melee being dropped by EVO was uploaded i immediately disliked him.
When he was claiming that ALL Smash 4 players should drop Nintendo and their own tournament to support Melee i was "Really MoFo? Aren't you one of those who contantly mock other scenes, Smash 4 and FGC included? Gimmie a single reason as to WHY should people even consider humoring your dumbass call?"

On the Jiggle Physics Mod, there’s literally male characters who are shirtless and wear only underwear. Getting mad about a clothed part of a character moving a bit more then usual is absurd when you can have half naked men beating up women and animals without any mods. It’s a fucking video game, not real life

I don't understand why people are willing to cape so hard for HugS and act you're somehow defending Nintendo by calling out HugS's straight up bully like behavior. As someone who generally respected his presence in the scene, I agreed with every single point.
HugS fucked up and exhibited the same pattern of making severely uninformed conjectures and the fact in its own right he essentially got away with doing it without community backlash is utterly ridiculous. I remember seeing a tweet from a Tekken developer very recently concerning mods and how people would actually ask the company and devs themselves how to fix an issues with it because they think it's officially made for some reason, and those questions were frequent surprisingly. Wouldn't shock me if Nintendo thinks the same way, or if their shareholders just don't want that shit to be shown off. I don't think they even dislike mods specifically because Slippi and P+ are still up and playable, but showing it off on a stream or CZcams is a different story.
That's what I've noticed anyway, even after the Melee fiasco Slippi is still up, it was actually interesting to read that tweet.

I love that the argument at about 15:00 is that TOs can do a piss poor job at regulating their own events, so we should ban an opt-in mod. HugS is so clearly in the elite of the Smash community that he doesn't realize that his argument is biased in that direction (meaning that since he is friends with/knows many of the TOs, he is arguing on their behalf so they have to do less work when in reality it isn't hard in any way, shape, or form to make sure mods are not present on tournament setups if you care at all)
For the last take. The people laugh, not because pyra/mythra have Boobs, but because someone actually went out of their way to put the mod on the tournament Switch. If someone would make a mod where snakes ass is huge, in memory of brawl, people would laugh the same way.
Edit: ok, I just looked at the mod, you don‘t even notice that in a tournament man. Proplayers have such refined movements, they move all the time, so you don‘t even see it. What would need to happen is that they play a female character (wich isnt that uncommon, zss, palu and pyra/mythra are kinda common), but then the player would have to notice it and dash or jump in a way so you can see the bouncing. And a competitor would only do that between stocks or at buttonchecks, so good luck having this mod ruin a girls experience in a tournament. Its not completely impossible to happen, but there are bigger issues man.
The amount of times I said “what are you talking about” while listening to Hugs “talking” or “trying to prove a point” was insane.

Hax raised a lot of legitimate issues, the way he framed it and some of the stuff he said was quite out there but the facts he mentioned was enough for anyone to see Leffen is a problematic figure in the community. Kinda ruined the video with the Haxx apologetics. I hate Leffen significantly more than the next guy but Haxx's video was genuinely unhinged and made it clear that he's not in the right mind to engage in the community right now and will only worsen divide in a dying community. I agree with a lot of what he says about Leffen, but you have to be careful when making a character assassination like that and he went into full nutbar territory and watered down all of his good points with conspiracies and exaggerations (and a Hitler quote right at the beginning like come on man). Most people agree that Leffen sucks, lots of us just also think Haxx sunk below Leffen's level and debased himself by making a crazy long and unpolished attack video.

We can "take the high road" all we want and not support the company, but it ain't doing shit and it won't do shit. we have the melee iso , if u create a carbon copy of the mechanic (maybe as a option change a few thing to make the game accesible to people (tilt stick, auto L cancel , to name a few)but i know i know it would be the death of waht is melee casue elitism) and none of the ip , and be the project open source , that would be way to to liberate from nitendo

For the record, if I owned a billion dollar company, where the biggest community aspect of my brand is a fun game, but the community is known as smelly pedophiles, I’d want to shadow ban all the events too
One thing that gets ignored about the Evo 2013 cancelation is that Nintendo was never given a heads up about the event. They had no idea it had to do with charity nor knew what an EVO even was, so no shit they were gonna cancel on an event they had no idea of. The person who told this story is the first man to get the Wii U, Triforce Johnson, as he was a close associate, and was the guy who convinced Nintendo to reverse the decision.
You can shit on Nintendo all you want (we all do it), but at the end of the day they are a business and you have to play ball.
Nintendo is set in a lot of their ways but they had and have all the right to not want their game on some event for whatever reason, it's their game. Is it smart ... well probably not but it's consistent (which is already a lot more than you could say for other cases)and they have been trying to change that as of recent.

A mod is a lot more...specific and intentional and focused. The effort involved in implementing it makes it more obviously personal to them.

Most people aren't gonna look at a jiggle physics mod and then proceed to ask the next girl they meet to jiggle thier cushions.
The only somewhat reasonable point he makes is the situation where a bunch of guys bring up the mod. But 1 or 2 girls weren't aware that the mod was on the system. If the girls ask for them to use other characters for the reason it makes them uncomfortable. I think that's a valid compromise till the girls aren't in the room anymore.

I love how he says that the boob jiggle physics mod Is harmful to women because there might be a chance that someone will bring it to a tournament, exclusively play Pyra and Mythra, gather a bunch of guys and laugh at their boobs, causing a nearby woman to get upset. Honestly it's more likely that if someone does go to a tournament with that mod, everyone's just gonna make fun of him for it like that one infamous clip where a dude was looking through a switch that was connected to the stream and found a bunch of porn in the album and custom stages.
Honestly saying that the mod shouldn't be allowed because it might make a woman with boobs uncomfortable is like saying me making a mod of putting Lisa from PT over someone like peach should be should not be allowed because it might upset kids because she's too scary.
