- In this episode, I talk about being a mentor and a mentee. Because the truth is… We are all both and we all need both. No matter what stage of life you are in there is value in having an intentional and authentic mentor relationship.
We cannot allow our insecurities to keep us from seeking out a mentor. Nor can we allow them to keep us from saying yes to pouring into another person. God desires for us to live in community with each other. He desires for us to learn from one another. Iron is meant to sharpen iron. So join me as I discuss how to find someone to be your sharpening iron and how to be the iron that sharpens someone else.

Thank you for sharing you ( your life,family, etc, Stuff!) May God continue to use you and your entire family. I know it began from obedience of men and women of God in your family generations ago. We need to thank God for our ancestors who loved God and prayed for us before we were born. May our children/ descendants follow the Lord in their lives in Jesus name.

I'm in Search of a mentor now. I had met some people and prayed about them being my mentor and God told me to "network" but not let them mentor me. I really want to be led to have a God sent mentor. I really don't have anyone within my reach whose able to give me knowledge. I may need to pray for opportunities to meet people. I've outgrown my circle and old mentors. I'm usually the one mentoring. I've reached the ceiling at this point.
God will give you what you need! The fact that you are praying and listening to His instructions shows you are putting Him first. In time He will give you the right people who are farther along than you.
In the meantime, try researching people who have been where you are headed, both current and past. Read biographies, articles, etc. And even watch movies/documentaries to see how other women / people of color / people in high positions / followers of Christ handled themselve in high pressure situations.

This really helps as well. With not having girlfriends because I have changed throughout my life. Alot of people dropped off. So, I am picky who I give my time too right now. Right now I am looking for a Mentor in the Ministry, dealing with empty-ness; along with a semi new marriage. This has been helpful in choosing, and gave me a good idea for helping others in my shoes.

Hello! First of all, I don't know if Im slow or what but I had NO idea you were Pastor Evans' daughter or Mrs. Shirer (sp) sister LOL. I found your channel a few weeks ago and have just been watching a bunch of videos. I saw a picture of you and Priscilla Shirer ( I didnt watch that video and thought to myself "oh that's nice, she has a nice group of friends lol). Then I watched another video where you mentioned your "sister" and it finally hit me she was your sister. THAT'S when I really took notice of the Evans in your name and i was like ohhhhhhh...she must be his daughter. lol. I told my friend who listens to you and she's like "girl i thought you knew!" . Not one clue 😂
Anyway, I just want to say your videos are truly a God send and I'm SO glad I came across them. So authentic, real, encouraging, and helpful. Your responding vs reacting video helped me A LOT, not just with human relationships but even my relationship with God because sometimes circumstances will happen and I'll just REACT like "Omg another disappointment, God must hate me bla bla, i knew it," just spewing negative talk out of emotions. Now I respond. I take a moment, like "Lord what are you teaching me, Lord I'm putting it in your hand, etc" God bless you for your pouring.

I lot of great advice. I'm so glad I pinned this to my To Watch queue and then finally sat down to watch the whole video. Such a good ideas to "show up where they are", among many others! The video (in the tone as much as the stories) 1. shows how it's really a relationship, and 2. demonstraties how you can infuse warmth and humanity into your interactions. Thinking of it as a relationship might seem intense but these ideas are applicable even if you never meet with them in person and even if the relationship is a short one! So much advice out there on the internet is bad... everything is transactional and kind of souless. I never really got it, and always felt like my asking for help would be a burden to the person I was asking. This video completely changed that for me! And now I have a few ideas up my sleeve about how to potentially bring value to them!

I am trying to get to the point that I can start the ministries God has called me too.
I had a mentor many years ago in my singles ministry and she died young Of cancer. My second mentor also died of cancer years later . So I have no one now and it hurts. You Chrystal are like a big sister from a far

Haha Chrystal needs a I got a Christal life coffee mug shirt. That would be so cute. I use books. Often I looked for aka accountability partners but I find Jesus and videos in areas where I then invoice myself. Reaching for people who reflect where I want to go do not resign near me, so I write my goals hold the mirror up and ask myself what did you change today? Are you listening to the drop wisdom? I appluade self on those milestones. Often people misread, misinterpret my ideas, precepts, what I say or meant. But I get it from online motivation and the word. I also podcast.

What if there are no mentors to get. I have tried to get them and they end up not knowing what I know. I don't have money. On SSI I don't have the money to buy books or seminars. I don't even know how I am going to make it this month. I could budget and balance a checkbook at 8 years old. This is truly about not having enough money, so called friends have left me, and I am so ill that I am in bed most of the time and can not leave the house. I am reading all the things I can get my hands on and listening too everything I can, but no one is talking about what you do in this season, with no family, one friend, and can not keep care givers that an agency pays. I don't know what else to do. I don't know how to find a mentor that can help and is will and able to come too me. At 51 I have always been independent and could figure out how to do things myself. Now I can not. Trust me I pray, read the Bible and other books,and try to reach out to someone if I think they might be able to help. I even see dreams, vision, have word from the Lord and in prayer give Him time to talk too. I have learned so much, but the problems that I need help with are still not being solved.
@julie Ailey be strong..although tough times don't last they may linger and hang on for awhile. Do what you know to do right. Thank God for blessings small and big even when you don't feel it. The word says "The joy of the Lord is our strength ", meaning focus on his goodness, love and see the beauty in His creation. Prayers said for you today
@@ms.5779 thank you, I am in a hard season. We're there are more questions then answers. But I have faith and trust in God. He has seen me through my trails and the ones I am going through now. I am ill and my brain is swollen, so I am more unsure of what to do and having people in my life to help would take a huge burden off of me. I am standing on The Rock of Christ my Savior. Thank for the prayers.
