Angle is a genuine hero to me. Dude performed at the highest level wrestling with a broken neck. He kicked a huge painkiller addiction. And is suck a good heated person from what i can tell.
Kurt Angle was for me the best pro wrestler I had ever seen. When you consider his skills on the mic, he is the complete package, or total package if you will.
Definitely. Don't care what anyone says but he is indeed the greatest pro wrestler ever. He has that aura, in ring skills, promos, charisma, comedic timing and a gold medal to add to it with a broken FREAKING neck.
Kurt Angle is genuinely one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, both in Amateur and Pro Wrestling. A match between him and Bret Hart would have been legendary. At least he had a dark match with Owen Hart, though. (wish there was video of that... 😔)
Omg I knew alot about Kurt but never about the night before the SD IronMan Match. Wow. I watched that match when I was 13 on UPN which was basically on "bunny ears" as we lived in the deep mountains where there was no cable. That match is still one of the best matches let alone not even being on a PPV. What a gladiator!
@@Mozzos Joe uploaded all the past episodes from Spotify all at once, so people's subscription boxes were filled with like 1000 JRE episodes. It was fixed shortly after I posted this comment, but mine and everyone else's sub box was useless for at least an hour.
I became so sad when he said "I am barely making it, I am really struggling man". and thats not about money, its about the most precious thing on earth... HEALTH. Kurt, please get well soon. you are a freaking legend!
I grew up watching the Attitude Era as a kid and didn't like Kurt because we "weren't supposed to like" Kurt. Now as a grown child i have so much respect for him. I occasionally will watch an episode now and the crowd still chants "you suck" at Kurt and it's such a bullshit thing to hear. He deserves so much respect.
I didn’t appreciate Kurt when he was wrestling but after he retired and started doing podcasts I have a whole new respect for the man. Wrestled with a broken friggin’ neck. Won a gold medal. Won multiple accolades in WWE. Battled addiction. I’m overcame addiction. Kurt did it all.
I can't think of a more universally respected pro wrestler... Old fans, new fans, hardcore fans, casual fans. Wrestling fans are some of the most naturally toxic, contrarian people on this planet - but they all agree that Kurt was absolutely incredible.
The pill thing about getting off them, the hollow feeling, all of it is so true, i went through it all too. And the worst thing about it is you still crave and think about it after and still feel an emptiness without it. Even after months of being off it. If your reading this and you know you have an addictive personality please stay away from prescription pain killers
Before he competed in the Olympics, his dad died in a construction accident and was living with his mom helping support her. Then won with a broken neck. Go watch his match when he won the gold. Amazing. 🇺🇲
I injured my lower back in an accident while in the Military, I had a total of seven back surgeries, including three 4-level fusion’s and all I can tell is, IF you have any other options for procedures, take those options first. DO NOT immediately get a fusion first if you can help it. I’ve had to retire early and have atrophy in both legs to this day, including severe nerve pain.
Kurt's wrestling skills are unmatched in my opinion. To me when you think of a wrestler, Kurt immediately comes to mind. This guy is the essence of wrestling. Like if there was a booklet with tooltips on certain moves, Kurt is gonna be on every example and demonstration
So one thing Kurt failed to mention: There IS a wrestling mat over the wood but it doesn't do anything to soften those bumps. Also, Brock broke Hardcore Holly's neck by botching a powerbomb and almost broke A-Train's neck on a botched F5. Young Brock was a bit unsafe
I didn't respect him in the wwf but I watched a biography about everything he went through and I totally respect him after watching it..all the pain and addiction etc😊
I had no idea that Angle's injuries were that bad. Just goes to show you that you have to be willing to sacrifice so much more when it comes to sports.
None of these comments talk about how he said opiate withdrawal was harder than winning the Olympics with a broken neck or anything he’s ever done. He gets treated like an all time warrior for one but people look down on everyone fighting the second which even Kurt admits was harder.
I had spinal fusion on my neck 3 years ago, still isn’t better nerves and pain gotten worse exactly like this and this dude broke his multiple times! Freaking crazy! But also he has better doctors and being taking care of compared to a nobody in Syracuse, NY haha but damn tough dude for sure
I have c5 to c7 fusion with cadaver bone. Titanium plate with 6 screws. The doctors scared me into having surgery before I could see what else was possible. I have more problems now than I did before surgery and more pain.
Kurt was the ultimate pro wrester in his prime! The guy was unbelievable in the ring , on the mike! I remember when he wrestled chris benoit! That was a awesome match!
1:16:43 Batista only wrestled full time from 2002/3 at OVW (WWE developmental school) to 2013! Batista never wrestled 20yrs as he in his late 20’s or early 30’s when he started wrestling so he wrestled for 10-11yrs max
I remember when i learned years ago that him winning a gold medal with a broken freaking neck wasnt just a storyline but ACTUALLY HAPPENED, i was blown away lol. Thats insane. Thats braging rights not only for the rest of his own life, but several generations of his children haha
This makes me so glad i didnt get the fusion i was offered at 28 when i was injured at work and couldn't walk for 4 months due to prolapsed and herniated discs at l4/5. Rehabbed myself and trained and did ddp yoga. Now 43!! And still able to move ok and still weighing 220
